So I bought a "rifle kit" from PSA, if I buy a "pistol" lower and never install the buttstock will it count as an AR pistol with a 16" barrel?

yes, if you buy any lower separately, it will be tranferred as "other:. if you want to get technical you should build it with a pistol tube (cannot accept a buttstock) and then make it a rifle, so you follow the rifle to pictol and back again rule. Why would you want a pistol with a 16 inch barrel?

Option 1) build the kit you have into a 16 inch rifle, when you get your shorter barrel and a pistol tube/brace, build it into a pistol. As long as you buy the lower separate and it transfers as "other" as it always should be, no one will ever know or question you that it was once a rifle. Unless your under investigation for other shit in which you have bigger problems anyway.

options 2) buy a pistol buffer for like 20 bucks as ceap as u can find somewhere. Slap it on there first and take a pic of the reciever with the serial showing built as a pistol, with current days newspaper or something, so you can prove it was a pistol first. This is really unnecessary as i said, no one will ever ask or be looking for that. Then build it into your 16 inch rifle, then back to pistol whenever u get a pistol upper/ barrel.

Buddy of mine bought this one and it worked pretty well. When were in tree stands in a very over grown area.

This one we used in an open field area while we were set up in a ground blind. This time instead of bows we had rifles and had about 150 meters of distance between us and them. Worked very well in that area.

Years ago a different person I went with used a similar set up that he made himself but he also used a freshly killed rabbit as bait. He gutted it and let the scent draw them in.

The open areas we hunted yeilded the standard size coyote. But the over grown area had some monsters. If it wasn't for those ears and long legs I would have thought it was someone's pet. This was in southern GA right along the Alabama and Georgia border.

When I was living in Indiana we used Rotten eggs and/or gut piles. Leave eggs in the sun for a day or two, put them back in the carton, (I always hunted a field from a woodline) throw the eggs into the field, and watch them come lick them off the ground from behind a felled log.
