Do not buy IO. They are horrendously over gassed and have cast trunnions, hopefully you can figure out the implication there.

Look up ak operators union on YouTube. They do torture tests of different types of aks. The io only made it maybe a third of the way through the test

So the general consensus is don't do it then? Are there any AKs (especially AK-74) under $500 that are worth it then? I've also only bought firearms locally and not online so I'm unsure of the process.

Well then I say avoid the gun and save up some more for a good AK, or buy an SKS and bubba it out if your budget is that tight. I have heard that replacing the entire bolt assembly and recoil buffer on the IO helps with some of its problems, but I still wouldn't trust it.

Kek. I called on this gun 2 day ago. It didn't say IO in the ad so I called to check. When I asked who made it he said "I.O. but it never has had any problems and it runs good." I couldn't hang up the phone fast enough.
