I'm not that guy, but the bigger guys in a unit are often capable of some shit. What happens, from what I've seen, to a lot of those guys is that they're big lifters at one point, make rank or get put in some position away from the line or get married and pack on an extra 20 and some of their gains flab up.

I'm 5'9 158 lbs and a PT stud, but it's easy for me. I don't weigh shit and gain mass slow as hell despite lifting. So throwing my weight around ain't shit.

Fun story, had this guy in my old platoon, always thought he was chubby until I saw him shirtless. Turns out all his mass was toned and defined and he was mega swole. Grunts I worked with overseas regularly got agitated when their LT would call in a fire mission or CAS during an ambush.

This was mainly because they'd already suppressed the enemy, and were maneuvering to close the distance and kill him, but the officers liked to call in the big boom, looks really good on their report. Seriously, it makes it seem like they saved the day by calling in a JDAM, when in reality everyone from the PFC to the Platoon Sergeant is pissed they have to wait an extra 15-30 minutes, and generally have to pull back like pussies to get out of the fire zone, for the plane to show up.

So yes, they would be able to, in my opinion. They're aggressive, and have a lot of personal and team level initiative. In the absence of other orders or commands, they will generally attack and advance, because they don't like being shot at and the best way to make sure that doesn't happen is to kill the guy shooting at you and taking the ground he was shooting from.

It's a strange juxtaposition, our nation's PC policies and pussy footed diplomatic efforts, and the extreme aggressiveness of our fighting men.

Reason for the LT calling CAS, etc. is because it's cheaper than writing a letter to somebody's parents when Jihadi Joe lines up a lucky shot. Since WW2, our policy has always been that bombs are cheaper than blood.

As far as tactical aggression, we drew some lessons from the Wehrmacht in that regard. Don't worry about how things get done, just that they do. That fosters a high degree of initiative at the squad and team level, which translates into action and results when unexpected things happen.

It also helps that we have a winning military tradition behind us. That can have a significant effect on outlook and morale.
