Pic related keeps happening. The slide repeatedly hangs up before it fully returns to place. The gun jammed several times within the first 100 rounds fired through it by pic related happening. One of the times was even a squib. I'm furious, the gun shop I bought it from wont do shit. It happens with and without bullets inside. It's an M&P 9mm btw. Can I sue the shop I bought it from?

Contact smith?
>>
Excuse my ignorance but can you not send it to the manufacturer to be fixed?
>>
I can send it to the maker and wait an entire month to get it fixed. But I want the store to pay for their actions. They can't just keep selling defective guns and not pay for it.
>>
>>30940793
Sorry man, but the gun shop isn't S&W quality control. They get sent product from an otherwise reputable source they are going to assume its ok. Do you expect them do go out and fire 100+ rounds through every brand new gun they get to make sure its ok? Be reasonable, it's not their fault, take it up with smith if your really want it fixed.
>>
>>30940793
You take it back to the gun shop if you have an issue, but only if its used. A new in the box pistol is the manufacturer's responsibility and is covered by warranty. A squib is a pretty serious issue (sounds like several) so they will ask for the entire gun back and either correct it or send you a new pistol.

>poor slide to barrel fir
>Bad interaction between recoil spring assembly and barrel cam
>Bad recoil spring

Honesty these are just some thing I can think of off the top of my head.

Send that piece of shit back to Smith and Wesson. Let them fix it, look for an alternative in the mean time.
>>
>>30940689
Take it apart and see if you can find any abnormal wear. If its brand new, there really shouldn't be much wear, other than where its hanging up.

Also, a squib really isn't the guns fault, unless the barrel was somehow machined way out of spec, in which case you have much bigger issues.
>>
Disassemble, turn slide spring around on guide rod, opposite direction it is now and replace. CLP all interior parts, pat dry. Rack and eject one mag full through the gun. Reload using fresh ammo and test. I'm putting the odds at 90% problem with that particular firearm is solved.
>>
>>30940689
>'m furious, the gun shop I bought it from wont do shit. Can I sue the shop I bought it from?

You sound like an insufferable cunt.

This is what the manufacturer warranty is for.

>>30940793
It's not the store's fault that the manufacturer sent them a defective product to sell. There are strict federal laws governing new firearms and ammunition being returned to the store. They can't accept it as a return. Smith and Wesson WILL cover your shipping back to the factory.

>>30941571
My first thought was poor slide to barrel fit. Could also be a bent ejector slowing down the slide or something going on with the recoil spring assembly, but those aren't things that a non-specialist has any business trying to fix.

>>30941720
Doing work on the gun himself could void the warranty. I doubt he understands the difference between a squib, a light primer strike, and a dead trigger. Most likely, his slide was not in battery and he went to pull the trigger. When nothing happened, he blamed the ammo with the only word he had.

>>30941752
>turn slide spring around on guide rod, opposite direction it is now and replace
Recoil spring, you mean? Taking the recoil assembly apart to change the orientation of the springs? I don't think that's going to do anything.
>>
>>30941994
You're the insufferable cunt here. As a store owner myself, when a customer has an issue with a product I sold them I take care of them. I don't leave them for dead by pretty much telling them to fuck off. I don't know of any other industry that would do what the gun store has done to me. It's the same with automobiles, construction equipment, furniture, and literally every single other product in America. It's the stores fault for selling broken products as much as it is the manufacturers, they both should take responsibility. Especially the gun shop if they want a repeat and happy customer that will tell more people about their good service.

>wasn't a squib
What makes you think that when you didn't even see it? Turn your brain on. It was the men at the gun range that told me it was a squib. They were the ones that took the bullet out. And when I googled it they were right, it really was a squib.

Once again, you're the real insufferable cunt here.
>>
>>30940689
You know whenever you buy something expensive like a TV or an oven, how there is a bright colored piece of paper with the packaging saying "Contact us(the mfg) if you have any issues with this product, DO NOT RETURN TO STORE"

basically the same thing applies with guns. It isnt your gunshop's fault. Take it up with smith. Try different ammo and dry cycle the gun about a thousand times before contacting smith.

In many guns it is easy to replicate your condition when dry cycling without letting the slide slam home.

Ammo loaded to too long of an OAL for the particular firearm will cause the condition you speak of.

Limp wristing can also cause these issues.

When you say squib- you mean a squib, right? bullet stuck in the barrel? That is NOT smith's fault, its the ammo mfg fault.

You could just be dealing with a new stiff gun and underpowered ammo. Your mention of one squib in a hundred rounds would lead me to place blame on the cheap ammo you bought first.
>>
>>30942124
Time to enter the world of adults, where gun stores are not the same thing as a candy store or a toy store.

>>
>>30942229
>>30942255
Calm down autists. The squib was just one of the several jams that happened. The slide still locks up like the first pic with hollow points and even with no bullets in it at all.
>>
>>30941752
This is exactly what i was thinking.
>>
squib probably fucked the gun cause your dumbass didnt recognize it as a squib and tried to fire another round

smith and wesson has a transferable lifetime warranty use the damn thing
>>
>>30940758
He can and it is what he should do but he is too busy going on a bitch crusade to listen when the guy at the gunstore told him the same thing.

>>30940793
>I want the store to pay for their actions
What a peach, I can't believe they didn't bend over backwards to help such a pleasant gentleman. S&W made the gun, they fucked up, and they are the ones who will make it right when you contact them about it.

kys
>>
>>30942168
Look man, everyone here is telling you its not the stores fault, they had no way of knowing the gun would malfunction and THEY didn't make the gun. You are covered under warranty, at no cost to you the gun will be fixed or replaced but you wanna sit here and throw a fit like a child and blame the store. Man up, send it to S&W and wait for them to fix and and your problems will be over or shut the fuck up, You sound like an angry little teenage girl who got the wrong car for her sweet 16.
>>
>>30942286
>The squib was just one of the several jams that happened.
The reason people are calling you out for your ignorance is because a squib isn't a kind of jam.
>>
>>30942349
I'LL SUE YOU TOO!!
>>
>>30942305
Spot on post here. You all may have a different meaning than what i use, but a squib in my book is when there is no powder in the case, and the primer is the only thing that pushes the bullet, usualy resulting in the bullet stuck in the bore. Firing another round or beating the fuck out it trying to clear it will damage the gun. But no matter what the issue, Smith will take care of it. The gun store store should have the common decency to ship it to and from for you tho, so in that sense they are dicks if they didnt offer to.
>>
>>30942392
smith pays for shipping both ways so it shouldnt matter
>>
>>30940689
Is that recoil spring in backwards? Is that why is popping out?
>>
>>30942414
AFAIK, it's impossible to put an M&P Shield recoil spring in backwards. It's a dual spring assembly.
>>
>>30942409
Yes, but a good gun store would have offered as a sign of good faith to ship it for you and help resolve the issue instead of saying they are washing their hands clean of it. I still think OP is overreacting, but gun shop could have better cust service skills.
>>
>>30942459
Some gun shops will do that for their customers, but calling up Smith & Wesson, waiting on hold for 20-60 minutes, having a 10 minute conversation with them, calling up UPS to come by for a pick up, and dealing with the whole thing when the customer could do it himself, is a major profit-killer. The gun store owner most likely perceived (correctly) that the OP is a loon and so telling him to do it himself would be saving them more than just that one hour of headaches, but potentially many, many hours in the future when he came back to bitch at them, threaten with lawsuits, and waste their time.
>>
>>30940689
The way the slide fails to go into battery happens sometimes when I load my Shield up but it never jams like you describe it.

It's 100% unnacceptable for this to happen to your gun, contact S&W and they will most likely sort it out.
>squid

Holy shit, send it the fuck back if it isn't the ammo. What kind of ammo are you using?
>>
I literally think OP is a nigger or a faggot or something. He sounds like he doesn't have the basic knowledge or know the basic terminology to describe the problem, which HE probably introduced.

Take a look at that guide rod. That ain't right. OP probably wouldn't even know that, though.
>>
>>30942508
>calling up Smith & Wesson, waiting on hold for 20-60 minutes, having a 10 minute conversation with them, calling up UPS to come by for a pick up, and dealing with the whole thing when the customer could do it himself, is a major profit-killer

Not exactly. If I bought a gun and was in OPs position, I'd appreciate if the gun store took that extra step to help. I would be shocked by how great their customer service is. And when I'm happy with a store, I not only come back later and give them more of my money, I will also recommend anyone looking for a local gun shop to go to the one I went to because I know they'll be taken care of there as well. So in the long run, they'll get paid very well for taking that extra step in at least helping me with my issue. In OP's case, the gun shop sounds like they couldn't care less and evrn though I wouldn't be as mad, I sure as hell wouldn't be happy.
>>
>>30942543
Nah, that's right. Confirmed with my Shield and it looks exactly like that.

Only thing OP fucked up doing is not contacting S&W immediately and instead wasting his fucking time asking shit in this thread. When my Surefire X300 was fucking up, I didn't complain on a Cantonese Lithography Symposium, I called Surefire and got it fixed ASAP.
>>
>>30942603
>Nah, that's right.
I used to own one and it never stuck out like that. The spring should never be outside the slide.
>>
>>30942534
>contact S&W and they will most likely sort it out.
Fuck you!! The gun store should handle it for me. I'll sue them until they start taking my calls again and take my photo down from their bulletin board of people banned from the store. I'm a small business owner myself and if any of the kids ever chases after my ice cream truck to try to return ice cream, you bet I will give them their money back as long as they return the ice cream to me. I'm totally chill about how they return it. Can be via a urine bottle for all I care, but since I have a little thing called principals, I will always put the customer first, unlike the Nazi gun store white supremecists who banned me because I'm Jewish. I am literally revving up the lawsuits as we speak. I have an uncle named Chaim Goldberg and he told me that what the gun store did is almost as bad as the Shoah. Can you believe that?

>>
>>30945113
how did you notice the text i was too busy jacking off to the wolf
>>
>>30942581
OP may just be an obnoxious cunt.
I had an issue with a new CZ rifle I bought in a brick and mortar, took it to them and they set me up good by taking care of all the hassle.
Then again I also bought several firearms there and hundreds in ammo so they knew I wasn't a raging artist trying to waste their time. Even now that I moved out of state I still highly recommend their shop to people willing to make the drive because their service was just that much more pleasurable compared to any other shop I have given my patronage to.
