It's got a buttstock, upper receiver, and A1 grip now. Barrel soon. I'm going to end up buying a midwest ind. rail since no one else feels like stocking their products. I'm looking at you DD and geissele
>>
>>30928490
next, i need to bevel(is that the right word?) the take down pin holder so it won't touch the screws from the rail.

it's almost like DD chose socket head screws for a reason.

This brings up a question I've had in queue for a while now. If I have something laser-etched into aluminum, rendering it white, could I have that area selectively anodized, or would the rest of the part be anodized as well, overtop of the anodizing already in place?

This is my first build, and in fact of my first AR ever. I already have the BCG/CH & FCG ordered so those should be arriving in the coming week, hopefully.

I looked at a few companies and decided to go with PSA and am satisfied thus far.

Striving for a black & grey build, I like FDE fine but I feel like too many people go with that set up.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have returned. So far, my research leads me to believe it is possible, but I have to seal the anodized parts so they remain unaffected while the white metal is reanodized.

It looks somewhat complicated, but possible.

I guess enameling is the preferred option for a reason.

It's really not that big. I like it better than the H1 I have on my AK but I'm probably either going to take it off and put it away until I want/need it and replace it with a 1-4x though since I'm kind of leaning towards an Aimpoint CompM4 for my M4 clone.

If so, you might want to go into your bathroom, close the door, and turn the light off. Then ask yourself if you could realistically aim at something in those conditions. If not, a fucking light helps.

>>
>>30929717

Both. AR's were not designed for piston, they have a problem called carrier tilt which is where the piston puts uneven force on the bolt carrier and causes increased wear on the receiver and buffer tube. Even high end piston designed AR's like the HK 416 have a service life of 10,000 rounds before you need to replace the buffer tube due to carrier tilt. Cheap conversions like Adams Arms have an even shorter service life.

Unless you are a "this my problem solver" gangland nigger, I'd expect you to clean and lube your gun when you get home from the range. You can go 1k+ rounds without cleaning if you have to.

Also, it means proprietary parts, so have fun paying out the ass when something breaks.

Give me one example of a situation where a piston system will work better than a DI.

Do you change the oil in your car? You're going to be cleaning your AR, piston or no piston.

Major law enforcement agencies and military units have used EOTechs happily for literally decades in spite of the zero shift problem having been present the whole time. The circle/dot reticle is objectively faster than a plain dot, and leaving your optic running all the time is overrated.

The discount isn't substantial and only applies to a select few brands. Ex. Geissele is 10% off.

I bought it off PSI

Works very well and is quality, I was hiking pretty extensively with it and could carry my food, med gear, rain poncho, blanket, and kettle in it.

It does get tight though, and I'd recommend it as a 3 day/hiking type pack instead of a hardcore grab and go innawoods for a month deal.

OK you're right, you can get about 5 or 6 in before it binds up. But it will not function correctly.

6.8 requires steel gi magazines or special 6.8 pmags that only fit a LWRC 6.8 rifle standard pmags are too thick to work with the bigger cartridge and longer OAL.

They're what guide the bullets from the mag into the chamber. The M4 has feedramps like the top right, the M16 has feedramps like the top left. The Anderson 20" upper has M4 feedramps, which are nice to have because they're theoretically more reliable, but they aren't clone-correct for an M16A4 and they aren't necessary on a 20" gun anyway.
