Masshole here just picked up my LTC today. I wanted a 1911 for my first handgun any recommendation on brand? WW2 style preferred. Other good first handguns?

auto ordinance is like 500 bucks, looks nearly exactly like your picture, very solid all around
>>

You posted WW1 style though.
>>
What is your budget?
What is your POU for this gun?

I like my Auto-Ordnance, I've got about 1000 rounds through it. It's probably the cheapest American made 1911 you can get, and it's a good GI-clone besides the markings

It's also made in MA.

I'm sticking to $800 or less and really it is more of a collection piece and fun gun rather than a carry for me.

Sig P220, if you can find a "Certified Pre-Owned." Paid $550 for mine, plain sights, DA/SA, no rail, nothing fancy, except it's full West German. Absolute tack driver. In over 3000 rounds (including a full 500 round case of Wolf, plus "Independence" and other pure shit) I have never had a single malfunction. Of any type. EVER. Part of that's gotta be luck, but it's a damned fine gun.

Be aware, if you're going .45 ACP for a first gun, and you intend to use an indoor range, the recoil and muzzle blast will contribute to a severe flinch reflex. It will take many, MANY rounds, and a lot a careful concentration, to learn to beat that reflex. Once you do, you'll be able to write your name with the damn thing, but it will take time. Don't be discouraged, just be aware of it.

Of course, if you shoot outdoors, no such issue. Recoil is physically not bad at all, but combined with the muzzle blast, it's a recipe for natural neurological triggers.
