I had one come in a rifle kit, it was fairly well done, with the exception of the gas port not being drilled through.

It is inferior to the Wilson in my Rock River and on par with the other two lower end barrels I have used in builds.

Checked, also look at something nitrided if you are worried about barrel life.

That said, it takes a lot to wear out even an untreated barrel and you can just replace it when that happens.

Also, the AR Stoner barrels are made by ER Shaw, if that matters.

Ideally free float handguard. Has to have a bottom rail though, going to have a forward grip and flashlight attached there. Still looking around so no specific parts, just a idea of what sounds good, hoping to put it all together for under 600.

The melonite is nice and the 5.56 is great, but looking for a 1:9 twist, will settle for 1:8 if needed.

OP, you will find 1x9 has gone out of favor due to "muh mil spec" and the interest in 77gr projectiles.
