5.45 is still cheap, new production steel cased is 20-25 cents per round, exactly the same if not cheaper than the cheap 7.62x39 or 5.56 If you want an ar go ahead and sell it but if you want to get rid of it because of ammo costs alone that would not make sense when ammo for either would be the same price.

So I started selling everything off a few months back. The guns are gone and I'm working on getting rid of the last case. 5.56 ARs are the more practical peashooter, 74s are cool for reasons that I realized I don't value as high as other factors in a weapon; they are aesthetic and they're fun to shoot.

I'm holding onto my AKMs because in comparison to 74s they are smaller(no muzzle brake), ammo and mags are more common, and because I wouldn't be using optics for either; the ballistic range is sufficient because I can't use AK sights past 250y or so anyway.

Tl;dr AR>AKM>AK74
