Though, also depending on the state, if you go so many years without being readmitted, it's autogranted, I think. Had a sister that tried to commit suicide, was admitted by psych treatment involuntarily, and was allowed to get guns ~5 years afterwards. Forgot if it involved getting a reevaluation, however.
