Anybody know anything about the .117 HMR? I wanna pick up a Savage .117, was wondering if anyone here has any knowledge about the round or the rifle. Currently I use a little .22 pic related.
Before anyone chews my head off I meant .177
Peace
Trajectory is damn near laser straight to 100 yards.
It's a great varmint round.
With he right ammo it's good enough for coyotes as well, you just need good shot placement.
A lot more accurate than .22lr which makes it more fun.

you mean 17 hmr anon?

Thinking of attaching a Sig Saur Whiskey scope on it, heard that's a cheaper quality optic good for mid range.

Ive never seen it typed out like that until OP did it.
I've just known it as .17HMR.
It's a .17 caliber projectile in a necked-down .22 magnum shell.
So the projectile is lighter than .22lr and has more energy.
This makes a very small very flat-shooting round.

Yes sir indeed I do
it is a .17 caliber. a .117 would be a very teeny bullet.
you may be confusing with a .177 caliber air rifle ammo. it is a common mistake.
there are several variants
.17 HMR, or .17 HMR, the first major production .17 caliber rimfire, introduced in 2002
.17 HM2, or .17 MH2, introduced in 2004.
The .17 PMC/Aguila introduced as .17 High Standard and .17 Aguila in 2003/2004.
.17 Winchester Super Magnum introduced in 2013
Any of a number of .17 caliber wildcat cartridges based on rimfire cases. Most of these were, like the .17 HMR, based on the .22 WMR.
The HM2 is a stumpy little guy and not very common. The really new one is the hot .17 super mag.
they leave a teeny hole in the target, the HMR shoots pretty flat for about 150 yards and starts to fall off fast.
with a bull barrel they are tack drivers. i can hit a dime from 100 yards all day long. I have a Savage .17 bull barrel.
I really, really, really, really like the Ruger rotary mag american .17, lori. The savage shoots awesome but is a little rough around the edges when it comes to mags and general machining, it's not "bad" it's just somewhat crude compared to some other bolt rifles. Both shoot great though. Mine is a 93R
fun little rifle.

Jesus, why would you add the decimal, it's just confusing.

.50 BMG
.22 LR
.17 HMR
Wtf is wrong with that?
Was out today with my marlin .17hmr. Zero'd it at a hundred yards at the range last week and was pinging steel at 150 easily. Went out earlier today to soften the local squirrel population. Left a bile pile of stale cereal out at the bottom of a little valley the night before. In the couple hours I was out there I think I killed about a dozen from ranges of 30 to 75 yards
