>haha the newest Chinese piece of propaganda, fully spliced with CGI and a few pictures of a rocket launch. Is this funnier then the Chinese topgun ripoff?

Yeah, it is CGI, but burgers dont understand Chinese, so they dont know the context.

They used parts of LM's SM-3 GCI ads to illustrate 'foreign ABM efforts' to give legitimation to their own ABM tests. The CGI explosions that appear to look like they were taken in thermal are also CGI illustrations shown in the command centers.

The entire report isnt actually about the ABM tests of 2010 and 2013, but about some socialist model-worker/model-soldier who worked hard for China's ABM-development and now receives some medals from the political commissar. The real footages of the ABM tests are, as per usual secrecy, shown minimally.

The only real mentioning of the word "mid-course anti ballistic missile interception test" is spoken by the broadcaster and in the subtitle.

pic: the socialist 'hero worker' who did a lot for the ABM tests and the subtitle in question describing what he did.

Seriously, if you dont understand a language, you shouldnt actually comment about it.

It is not that the tests arent widely known or never happened:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Chinese_anti-ballistic_missile_test

http://thediplomat.com/2014/07/china-conducts-third-anti-missile-test/

It is just that the report wasnt about the tests per se, but about some guy who receives a medal for it.

The missile is the HQ-19, a heavily upgraded HQ-9 with integrated booster and KKV warhead.

Pretty much a THAAD on sterioids, as it is also capable of mid-course interception and killing satellites in LEO, not just terminal phase missile defense like the US equivalent.

So, a SM-3, PAC-3 and THAAD in one.

>>
>>30754602

>>
>>30754645
Generally, all ABM can function as ASAT, as ballistic missiles travel the same or even lower orbits than LEO satellites.

Mid-course interceptors basically can always target LEO satellites at considerably distances as well, while THAAD-styled terminal stage interceptors can target LEO at shorter range (when a satellite passes etc.).

Fundamentally, as long as the KKV is in orbit, it can strike whatever comes within range. The THAAD's advantage is merely that it can also target missiles within atmosphere as well.

This is something that is unknown about the HQ-19
>>
>>30754683

> as ballistic missiles

ICBMS? yes.

All the rest? LEL, no.

>Mid-course interceptors

Cannot be used in ASAT roles due to the fact that they are ballistic the moment the atmo no longer works on its control surfaces.

THAAD is all short range terminal work.

HQ-19 seems like a GBI.

The USA is stagnating, the total GDP only grows because of immigrants and financial shenanigans, wage slaves have seen their wages stagnate for 40 years now.

In an openly trading environment and with scientifically run countries with low to moderate levels of corruption it's inevitable that all of them will gravitate towards a comparable economic output per person.

Well, the SM-3 is a mid-course interceptor and it actually shot down a satellite. So, ASAT is definitely possible.

There is no difference in hitting a ballistic missile at mid-course cruise, a MIRV-bus or a LEO satellite.
>>
>>30754794

SM-3 is a ABM friend. SM-6 is a mid course interceptor.

>There is no difference in hitting a ballistic missile at mid-course cruise, a MIRV-bus or a LEO satellite.

Sweet mother mary....

Well, for starters, one is exo atmo and the other is inter atmo..i mean, that little small detail there...

>SM-3 is a ABM friend. SM-6 is a mid course interceptor.

Wat

SM-6 is a long range SAM with limited terminal stage ABM capability within atmosphere (like the late block SM-2s). The SM-6 cant be used for mid-course interception because it has no kinetic kill vehicle that is required to function outside the atmosphere. It is an in-atmosphere missile only.

The SM-3 is a purebred Mid-Course ABM, as it has KKV only and cannot be used for terminal interceptions within atmosphere.

ABM is just the generic description of all missiles or weapons that can intercept ballistic missiles, no matter if mid-course or terminal stage.

>SM-6 is a long range SAM with limited terminal stage ABM capability within atmosphere (like the late block SM-2s).

Your main problem is you seem to think that all ballistic missiles are created equal, or fly at the same altitude.

This is false. Pic related.

The SM-6 (like most sam's) can intercept some BM's, but not all. The SM-3 can intercept pretty much all of them, except ICBM bus's

There is a grand difference between an ICBM bus, and a SAT, and a BM flight profile.

Deal with it - it's run by people using math instead of voodoo, world trade is more open than it has ever been and corruption is at a moderate level (compare to South America or Russia/Ukraine).

Success breeds jealousy. Many people had problems accepting that their economy doubled since 2009 but accepted it as the new normal, you will get over this too in time.

>>
>>30754827
With KKV, I mean EKV actually. Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle.

SM-3 and GBI/NMD have EKV, while the SM-6 has no EKV.

The HQ-19 is mysterious, since it only says that it has a KKV (like the THAAD), but doesnt say whether it is an exo-atmospheric EKV or not. The THAAD's KKV does indeed have exo-atmospheric capabilities, but no mid-course interception capability.

The video description and narration says that the ABM test was a mid-course interception, though.

So, it is questionable whether the ABM system was indeed the HQ-19, China's THAAD-equivalent, or a different sort of missile.

>>30754868
Acceptable conclusion.

>So, it is questionable whether the ABM system was indeed the HQ-19, China's THAAD-equivalent, or a different sort of missile.

Seems a waste to test a GBI on a mid course. So my guess is a SM-3 equivalent.

I highly doubt its terminal capabilities. Having your cake and eating it too only goes so far.

In no way is this market shut down. It had been trading at higher levels than in 2014. Meanwhile Shenzen and HK (which is part of China) are at near records highs for trading volume.
