Pretty dead set on buying a Single Action Army. I have a Ruger Super blackhawk and a junk taurus snub nose .38 that was my fathers.
My question: what caliber should I get. 45 colt or 357 mag?
>also general wheel gun talk
There's nobody that enjoys revolvers?
Shooting my dad's .38 taurus was probably the sketchiest gun I've ran. It felt like it was going to split in half.

I used to rock a Blackhawk when I was a farm/ranch/land man.
If you're going for sexy cowboy vibes, get .45 Colt. If you want the most badass thing that carries on a hip, you'll get it with a 7.5 inch barrel in .357 Mag.

45 colt, keep it classy. If it's an older gun make sure you use good ammo.
>>30749442
Go 45 colt op...gotta get a cowboy gun in a cowboy caliber
>>30749675
I've got the 7.5 blackhawk in 44 mag.
>that's enough gun.

Price isn't a problem unless it's like serial number 1 or something from the 1800s.
Finding an older one with holster wear would be pretty cool, but would almost definitely need serviced. New one is still cool, my collection isn't very large yet, and I like to shoot them and not look at them.
If I really wanted a cowboy badassery vibe why not run a black powder pistol?

Goddamn, son, you measure your dick with a meterstick, don't you?

Well in that case, I could use a little help too. On a gun selling forum a guy is selling a Cimarron revolver rifle (based on the SAA by the look). I've been needing a pistol calibre carbine in my collection to make it a little more whole, and I'm wondering if they're any good.
Are they pretty accurate at shorter ranges? Do they work? And is the company reputable? And would they be a gun worth selling a few guns to pick up?

Buy a Colt, buy it in .45lc.
The Colt SAAs are like $1,800, but they are really very nice. They're all off of a single dedicated production line worked by employees just for that line, so the attention to detail, quality, etc. is pretty damn good.
Also it isn't a bad idea to drag it through the custom shop for another $500-1k if you're spending that much already, but that's up to you and your budget.
Bonus for the Colt is that it's an actual Colt SAA and they can be turned around for what you paid almost immediately or more if you sit on it for a decade, just keep it in good condition of course.

Anymore info or pics? They're alright, but I wouldn't sell anything cool to get them.

Uberti El Patron. .45LC. 5.5" Barrel.
Colt is overpriced, overhyped trash. El Patron comes tuned directly from the factory for 1/3rd of the price.
Want to actually shoot it? Buy Uberti.
Want to look at it on a shelf? Buy Colt.
Sexy and solid.

I forgot to mention the Ruger Vaquero too. Very good gun, built like a tank. However, it's not very authentic (transfer bar), but allows you to safely carry 6 rounds (unlike the traditional SAA).

.45 Colt all day
>>30749442
.357 Magnum is cheaper to shoot by far, and .38 Special even further so, so unless you're handloading, that's a very attractive choice.

There's just something special about a big single-action Magnum

>that ugly tempering
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT
DELETE THIS
Thinking of buying an Uberti Cattleman II in .357
Can I shoot .38SPL out of it as well?
>>30757060
>doesn't like case hardening
>>30755494
This an Uberti El Patron? I have one and it is magnificent. I can't aim for shit with it, but it is more of a collector's piece with sentimental value to me.

>Buying a Colt Single Action Army, the greatest handgun ever made, in anything other than .45 Colt.
>>30757060
That's color case hardening you worthless feelposter.
>>30757315
I don't like the look of that myself but I'm not being a faggot about it.
>>30757288
Yes. Same with every other .357 magnum revolver

If you shoot it and don't reload: .357/.38Spl
If you shoot it and do reload: .45 lc
If you don't shoot it and don't reload: .45 lc

Thanks, here's some more info:
It's in .45 LC, apparently unfired entirely. Also, a little background as to why I'm considering it is because I'm in Canada without a restricted license, so "buy a SAA clone" doesn't apply to me as of yet, I'd have to stick with the rifle to stay legal. These are also pretty damn rare up here, without special ordering one that is. For that reason there's a little cool factor here, I just don't know if it's enough.
I'll call my local gun shop in the morning to see what their prices on .45 are, in the meantime if anyone has anything else to add about these guns, I'd appreciate it!
