I'm 19 years old and sick of my 9-5 job, my family and my life so I signed up for the British army, I past my initial run and icebreaker speech at a local TA centre.

I've applied for army air corps as my first choice, but I have friends in the queens Royal hussars, which are tanks and armoured jobs. Do I join armoured corps or stay with air corps? I don't know what to expect from air corps. Please help me and if there is any ex army blokes inform me of what it's like in AAC compared to RAC.

>>

Join the Marines instead of some shitty average army unit if you want to see the world.
>>
>>30738451
Why would he join the muhreens if he can write?
>>

So he can see the world instead of staying on a base for his four years of service

Hey mate, I always wanted to fly helicopters but laser eye surgery put me out of the AAC. Instead I've put a commission in for the QRH as tanks have always been a fascination for me.

From what I've been told, ex pilots and their flight hours in aircraft are always appreciated in civvie street so you should always be able to find a job of sorts with aircraft/helicopters when you leave.

On the other hand, the QRH/RAC will be considered a bit posher, the officers mess is quite good and I suspect a bit Flashman-esque.

Either of them are pretty well sought after jobs, and should be pretty fun. Best of luck with your application, might even see you in the future in the QRH.

I have a friend who operates challenger 2 tanks in the QRH, he wants me to join RAC for the reason of us being together but it seems I'll join AAC even if in ground specialist or whatever. I'll be due at the assessment centre on the next few months, maybe we'll cross paths.

Good luck anyway bro.

Literally the only place I know that will have ex army guys, I don't see any rules being broke, also what do you think to the SA80 ? Is it good I've only ever used a double barrel shotgun and .22 rifles (no freedoms).

And it's a question of seeing the world or not risking too much for a decent wage and seeing somewhat anywhere other than Britbongistan or Europoorea. Also I don't think I'll be fit enough for that.

We maintain a general so people don't make 50 of these threads a day, the least you could do is use it.
>>
>>30739021
A shitty general aimed towards the US military.
>>
>>30739350
My point exactly.
>>
>>30737927
Or go to uni lad, join the OTC to get some soldiering in while having a good time at taxpayer expense.
>>
>>30738451
Joining the Marines isn't a major option given that there's only eight thousand of them plus seven hundred and fifty on reserve. OP might not be able to make the physical quals, since they meet SpecFor physical training head on.

If you want to see the world with minimal risk to yourself and better pay and comforts, join the RAF. Don't bother with the army.
>>
>>30738470
>Marines
>Not going overseas to girbraltar, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, US all the time
>>

>better pay
The RAF has the same base pay as the rest of the forces, you are right about the comforts though and the food is certainly better.
