Am I pissing my money away trying to buy my first Sig be a West German 220?
>>30737517
Yes.
>>30737517
Depends on how much you're buying it for. What's the price?
If I would ever buy a .45, it would 100% be a WG P220.

I'm just looking Id like to know some fair prices actually so I know what's a good starting point

Can you elaborate? I'm understanding the steel used is better also the design.

Typically $500-$550 is a decent price. Mayne $600-650 if it's really lightly used and well taken care of.
As for wanting a WG P220, just personal preference. I do admit I got a German 226 because at that point in time, I did believe the German Sigs were better than the newer ones but that isn't neccesarily the case. I just really like the look of the German ones better. I haven't recalled but I've been told the carbon steel slides feel a bit better in terms of weight distribution compared to the newer milled slides but that may or may not be bs.
One big con of the German guns is they actually have a tendency to rust if you do not treat them well, maybe that and older style parts are a bit hard to find here and there. The newer Sigs come with a pretty good wear resistant coating which is better than the older German blued slides. All in all, you should try to grease most contact points inside your Sig and frame rails.
Some people have an aversion to the newer MIM extractors that are used in most new production Sigs (excluding the MK25 and some others) that they choose the German guns over them without knowing this exists.
