Just built my first ever AR. It was a Premium?(I think) parts kit from PSA, and some cheap Anderson lower from locally. Scuffed up and scratched the lower while hammering pins in, and probly messed up some of the pins, but fuck it, I planned on putting this rifle through some use anyway. So, having bought a Magpul BUIS, how far back should I mount it? Should the back of the BUIS while folded down be in line with the back of the charging handle?

All I had was the punch set and armorer's tool I bought for it, and a good friend to help hold and brace it. How'd you do your castle nut? I just had my friend hold onto the lower as best he could while I tightened it with the armorer's tool until I couldn't twist it anymore without it slipping out of his hands.

For those of you more experienced, do you think my castle nut is tight enough? Or should I take it to a local shop and see if they'll tighten it down for me?

Hey guys! I ordered a custom engraved Halo themed lower from York Arms about 5 years ago to start a build. Haters gonna hate. Along the way I had the opportunity to use a cnc milling machine at work to finish an 80% lower and built the rifle on that instead. In all, I've got about $2,300 sunk into the gun and I love it. Now I'm looking to finish what I started and build the engraved lower into something. I'm unsure of what direction I'd like to go with it, however. I'd almost like to have a standard run of the mill 16" AR with nothing fancy, maybe an Eotech but retain pop up irons as well. Another part of me wants to go full retard with the fancy shit again and build a sweet little SBR, maybe 9-10" barrel. Any suggestions or maybe a whole different path from those two that I could go down?

Their parts kits are fine, just be prepared to find parts missing.

They left out an entire bag of parts in my lpk. Their customer service was pretty good though, they sent me the missing parts pretty quickly.

Also, for people building AR lowers, make sure you have a pair of channellocks or some other adjustable pliers. Instead of fucking up the finish trying to punch in the bolt release roll pin like I did, just squeeze that bitch in with pliers. I spent an hour+ trying to hammer that pin in and was getting nowhere except mushrooming the end of the pin, then read about using pliers, and those did it within 5 seconds.

I fired my 11.5 upper with my 762SDN6 for the first time today -- I've shot silenced before, I've shot this can before, but shooting 5.56 AR, even with supers, is like ... so much fun ... that it's almost a completely different activity from the fun I had growing up as a kid in Dixie and vaguely resented on active duty because they made it lame, then resumed back on the block

I sent the barrel installed in the upper using Geissele gas block and the SGB with its parts in a baggie. I also threw in the gas tube even though it was pretty nasty.
