I'm searching for a scandi grind folder.
I don't want the Cold steel Finn wolf, the heat treat seems to be off in many cases and I want a better steel. Cold steel products also cost 100% more in Germany.

Right now I'm looking at the Real steel bushcraft 2 folder and the Enzo birk 75.
Are there any more options?
The Helle models seem to be too expensive for what I'm getting.

You could have gotten the XHP version for less, if you can, redo the sale.

The aus8 versions float for around 180 on the secondary market ( bladeforums )

Damascus/CF Skyline, that can't be common and is that a Knockout next to it? If so how do you find it? I tried to order one but customs pilfered it, shame sometimes you can get them through.

I'm autistic and like to waste money so I bought a carbon fiber S30V Skyline and G10 Damascus Skyline and swapped the parts. The pocket clip and barrel spacers are aftermarket parts off of ebay. Sold the other Skyline though so it was as much of a loss.

Yeah, that's the Knockout next to it. I either got it off of Amazon or ebay. I live in California which doesn't have any assisted opening knife laws that I'm aware of so it might just depend on where you live.

I uhh, I just googled "sog money clip knife" because somebody texted me a pic of the knife holding money with the pocket clip and a big SOG on the side. Couldn't find out what the actual name of it was from them and I needed an aesthetic knife to use for the OP pic. I probably wouldn't buy one myself, I prefer larger blades and a different blade style, but if I were to receive one as a gift I'd use the shit out of it

That's the Cash Card, it's the China shit version with 8CRmov13 and no arc lock. The first Access Card was available in satin if you can still find them.

I've had a few opinel and I modified the handle on all of them. The finish that they put on from the factory doesn't keep moisture out very well so it's good to refinish them anyway, and I figured while I already had it stripped I might as well reshape it to my liking.

The handle is just the standard beech wood, I just put a little stain on it so it's darker.

I noticed that Opinel don't work very well with moisture, what exactly did you do to the handle to avoid this?

As for reshaping, I'm probably going to do it as well, I guess some sandpaper will work fine.

when you sand off the finish make sure you take the whole knife apart and get in around where the pin that holds the blade is, stain the whole thing and then if you're going to clear coat it make sure you dip that end in the clear coat, or you can soak the whole thing in boiled linseed oil or whatever you like to finish your wood with.

All that matters is that you make sure the part at the top of the knife under the locking collar is sealed as well as the rest of the knife, because this is the part of the knife that tends to swell and affect the opening action.

I used a dark stain and then olive oil soaked in to it, leaves a nice dull sheen to it, and it smooths out and darkens up over time. Every now and again I put some more oil on it.

And ya sandpaper works fine, but it's slow depending on how much material you want to remove. I did the rough shaping with my sak and a file then finished it off with sandpaper.

Which ones do you prefer for deer ? I always used a buck knife for game cleaning. 105 for small game or a 119 for deer

i carry the f1 for gralloch. the moras get used for skinning.
boker never gets used.
the spyderco's, enzo and fantoni are for EDC.
