What're some good entry level bolt action rifles? Always wanted a bolt action. I suppose it would be too much to ask for it to be in 7.62x54r as well (nuggets are too pricey for what they are these days).
Savage Axis II decent rifles ?
>>
I don't understand. You want Mosin caliber and price but not a Mosin?
>>
>>30545895
A cheap .308 would suffice, then, I guess.
>>
>>30545895

He wants Mosin caliber in an affordable, reliable bolt-gun platform.
>>
>>30545926
So.... A Mosin?
>>
>>30545935

You'll pay more for a Mosin than it's worth right now. OP prolly wants a TC Venture or a Savage Axis.
>>
>>30545874
What price point do you consider "entry level"?
>>
>>30545935
>reliable
>mosin

He'd prefer not to have to knock the bolt back into battery with a 2x4 every time he cycles the action.
>>
>>30545874
Depends on what you want to do with it. Savage is fine, Tikka t3 or rem 700 are good alternatives.
>>
54r costs as much as 308 now, may as well just get a 308.
>>
>>30546004
Are Mosin bolts that stiff?
>>
>>30545874

definiely not a rem 700 ltr like your pic related

savage axis are workable but you'll get a lot more in the 10 series. 10tr, 10fcp, etc.

tikkas are top tier if you want to get great quality but stay in the affordable range

i hear ruger americans are also decent for a budget option, but ive never shot one myself.
>>
>>30546410
they will stick if you don't clear out the cosmoline. or if you should triple charged pistol powder loads.
>>
>>30546438
Helpful as shit, thanks man.
And yea, around <$500 is great. and x54r is still decently cheaper than .308, especially corrosive.
My vepr shoots nice but I want a bolt action as well.
>>
>>30546438
I've never shot a Ruger American but I've fingerfucked them in a store. They're well built guns. If they're accurate then I'd say it's worth it.
