>>
>>30522352

First post got it right.

Bore evacuators were invented after WW2 because fumes were such a problem. Before then, they just left the hatches open and dealt with it.

The fumes were just one of the things you had to put up with if you were a tanker.
>>
They were too busy smoking cigars, drinking whiskey and bragging about sexual conquests to care about any "fumes".

I don't know OP why dont you use Google or common sense to figure out how they did it.

Or here I'll spoon feed you're dumbass. They left the hatches open and fucking dealt with it. Bore evacuators were purposefully designed and built to deal with the fumes. There was nothing else other than leaving the hatches open.

I'm not the guy who answered you the first time but honestly, I don't know what you're looking for here.

Here, I'll give you a wrong answer and we'll see which one you prefer. All tank crews before the bore "evaporator" was conceived were instructed to have their weapons operators place their mouths into the barrel of the tank and blow exceedingly hard until the fumes last the chamber, leaving the inside of the vehicle free of pesty fumes.

Happy? You've gotten your answer from me, which I was wrong. And you got your answer from the first guy who was correct. Choose one.

Assuming that the shells did not have an explosive filler, spalling from the armor causes a lot of fragmentation inside the tank. All of the armor that was in the open hole you now see shatters and sprays into the fighting compartment along with the solid shell.

Later model T-34-85 did it like this.

See those half-rounded covers? There are ventilators underneath those, the one in the back pumps fresh air, while the one in the front pulls out the fumes.

Most german tanks hat some sort of ventialtion in the turret roof, pic related, the Panther (red part)

The Sherman had the same thing in the hull roof between driver and his assistant.

Idk how the russians dealt with it but I guess they just opened the hatches.

It is true what >>30523013 said

These ventilations where simply not enough to keep the inside of a tank clean during heavy fighting which was a downside for the crew and their ability to operate the tank in the most effective way.

Then came bore evacuators and everything was fine.
>>
>>30522352
>And they dealt with it by having the hatches open and not being little bitches.

Actually what if I told you...
That bore evacuators were the problem with the gasses going back in and most modern tank cannons. After the shot with automated fire control adjustments for elevation vents the gasses out upward (because hot gas rises), even in the earliest auto-loader system. The Abrams has a loader hatch so, I don't really know if it should be open or not but handling 120mm pretty much needs a person standing. Most of the smoke that enters the cabin, is most likely do to an auto ejection process of the Guns. The German Pak40 or kwk40 had a breach that had to have the shell be ejected manually so there were not much smoke inside those tanks.

The only reason why there was a bore evacuator was so that gases could be used as a depression during the shot so that the cannon without any hydraulic recoil mechanism would not force the barrel to elevate itself up without the negative effects of having a mussel device kick up dust.

I'm guessing English isn't your first language, because big chunks of that paragraph are nonsense.

Not to mention that most of the point you seem to be trying to make is wrong anyway. Bore evacuators do a good job of, well, evacuating the bore of fumes resulting from firing. Automatic ejection has nothing to do with it, as long as the bore evacuator is clean and functional you're going to get very little gas coming back into the fighting compartment after firing. The M1 does have a loader's hatch, and it is often left open (because it gets hot inside a tank, fumes or no fumes.), but if you think the loader's hatch NEEDS to be open in order for the loader to do his job, you've clearly never seen the inside of an M1. There's plenty of space for the loader to work with all the hatches closed.

The Pak 40 featured an automatic ejector (Though it's likely you could disable that), and even if it didn't then nobody's going to leave the gun empty for long in a battle, so they'd likely just open the breech immediately anyway, meaning all the fumes would just come back into the fighting compartment anyway. As >>30531452 said, ventilators were probably the best solution they had.

The last part of your post is completely unintelligible, so I can't really comment on that.
