A couple of years ago I went, "Fuck it, I'm buying an old sword." and went to all of the nearby antique stores. None of them had anything, but one of the better stores took my number and told me they'll call me if they get anything in. Today I finally got a call, they got in two swords from the 1800s. One was a Masonic Cerimonial sword, boring and bad condition, but they also had a "1800s combat sword", which was far more interesting. So I took some pictures, asked them to hold it for me, and now I'm here, hoping you guys can tell me something about it.

I think Japanese, just because of these Kanji, and what appears to be a maker's mark of some sort.

It's called a Japanese type 32 saber.
That makers mark is a Japanese arsenal mark.
The site I found it on oldswords.com has one selling for 435 British pounds.

That condition...............if it is numbers matching is an ok price, not a steal. Is is missing the leather washer at the base of the blade and the riveted finger loop in the handguard. See pic related to compare.

I think the stamp is for Koichikawa arsenal, I'd say get it.

Alright, so I went back to the store and measured it, and based on articles like >>30391362 and others I determined it was an "OTSU" or Type B version of the sword, a couple of inches shorter than the "KO" or Type A. Based on this https://www.scribd.com/mobile/doc/89876188/Sword-Corner-Type-32#scribd article, the serial number means it was made before 1910. Unfortunately the scabbard is missing the serial number too, so it's probably not a matching scabbard.
Anyways, after looking on eBay, it's going between $130-$200 dollars, mostly going lower. Kult of Athena has a replica for $145.00 (http://www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AH3410&name=Japanese+Type+32+Cavalry+Saber+).
I talked to the store, and they are going to talk to the consigner about the price, and get back to me about it.
