Newfag here, what's barrel length really effect in something like a .357 Magnum?

357 uses slow burning powders so a 2" snub gives worse ballistics in 357 than .40 but twice the recoil due to excessive powder that does nothing

So why does anyone still use it?
Can you just buy and or handload a less shit powder?

Gee I wonder if a short barrel will affect muh boolet speed

If you're within 10 feet of someone and shoot five rounds of .357 magnum center mass into them it won't matter if it's going 900 fps or 1200 fps.

affect

It affects the ability to conceal, that's the whole purpose of a snub.
When you're shooting a snub you're likely within 1 -3 yards max.
Ballistics are pointless at this range, but you still want to wreck their shit so get a 2.25 inch sp101 load it with the hottest magnum you can find.

You don't like the Walther PPK for maximum conceal + stopping power at that distance?
>>30391020
People keep using it because they either have 4"+ barrels or are funds who still think their snubbies are relevant.

Under 3", .38 +P is a better option.
People buy .357 snubs because they're retarded and don't know any better.
