Yes, Aero makes decent/good stuff. For optics, check out Aimpoint or knockoffs (Vortex, Primary Arms) but know that you get what you pay for.

If you don't shoot with anyone it doesn't matter, but if you do shoot with people then your friends will hate you. I don't give a shit at the range, but since I don't shoot at ranges anymore I dropped the Lantac Dragon because my buddy did nothing but bitch.

Also, depending on the brake some of it will be sent back to you, in which case that definitely matters.

>>30324601
Matech is overcomplicated shit, Magpul MBUS is good if you're cheap, Magpul MBUS Pros are the best price/quality ratio and are way stronger than most people will ever need, and KAC's are the best overall, though way too expensive as a set to be worth it.

Yes. The geometry of the dimples will create more material away from the central axis, creating a greater resistance to certain deformations, and also in local areas.

Yes, removing material will always weaken an object in many ways. (an exception is crack initiation and certain fatigue issues, but that is something else)

I have disposable income I can spend as I desire as well; the difference is I don't make stupid decisions that I'll replace in 6 months when I get tired of lugging around two pounds of poor cheekweld and no storage space.

Does my rifle look bargain bin to you? If it does, you're pretty retarded. Maybe you should've spent your "disposable income" on a good optic rather than aesthetic parts.

>>30325035
>Jesus anon why would you even buy something
Yeah, be poor like Giddy here.

>>30325050
You could get a PRO or ACO in that range, and that's by far your best bet in terms of a red dot as far as I'm concerned. You could also get something like a Leupold if you want a variable mag optic.

>>30325054
It's unnecessarily heavy for a stock that has no storage space and poor cheekweld. They're beautiful, strong stocks, but the result of the strength is extreme weight and a proprietary buffer tube design. Slapping one of those on any rifle and you'll have one of two (or even both) of these things: an extremely overweight rifle toted by one of those "U JUST NEED 2 WERK OUT" fatbody types, or an extremely unbalanced "I LIKE THE WEIGHT IN THE REAR OF THE WEAPON ANYWAY" ignorant types.

I've helped a few of my buddies build their ARs and many chose UBRs and then talked about all that stupid shit like that stupid strike plate attachment, but every single person I know dropped it in half a year after they realized how it was the bottleneck of their rifle.

SOPMOD, LWRC mini and micro SOPMOD, almost any of Magpul's other stocks (barring the MOE), the BCM Gunfighter if you're a faggot like me, or really most other stocks. The UBR is a DMR stock and nothing more. If you've got a DMR, then the UBR will be a great stock, but other than that it's terrible.

>>30325200
KAC SR-25, Daniel Defense's AR10, or if you feel adventurous you can try out the DPMS G2 for everyone. If you want to build one then have fun digging through two different part styles and building a rifle for way too much money.

>>30325243
I enjoy it thoroughly and if I had the choice of a TA31 or a TA33 I would probably go with the TA33 all over again. The TA31 is awesome and is better than the TA33 in some ways, but I really prefer the TA33's lower magnification and longer eye relief.

So, I took off those little inserts that the B5 stock has to help with the rattle, and I have to say, I kind of like it better without them. You lose some of that anti-rattle, but it adjusts a lot more smoothly now.

Why not both? I have four parts left to buy: 16" Barrel, VG6 Epsilon, some BUIS, and either an Aimpoint T2 or Trijicon TA31H/Green

Sighted in my 5x optic today and finally rang steel at 300 yards. I know that's pretty close, but it's further than I can repeatably shoot so far with shit-tier ammo with my bolt-rifle. AR eats shit ammo and I can ring the gong about 90% of the time. I can already tell this is going to be an addiction.

Gotta say, I disagree with the UBR bashing going on. It's solid as all hell, has a great cheek weld, and looks sexy to boot. It is heavy, I will gladly agree with that, but it doesn't bother me at all. I would happily buy another if I built another lower.

I use my AR to hunt hogs on a few of my friend's properties. My buddy also has a 500yd range that I shoot at and when we shoot it's usually for six or more hours at a time, and during that time we usually don't put our rifles down because there's nowhere to place them.

>Looks pretty good, exact for for that dumpy looking stock. Is that a 3x30 ACOG? Do you like that Muzzle Comp?
See? Not bargain bin, just sense. I've used the UBR enough to know that it's shit for anything other than a gun that'll never leave the bench or a DMR.

The stock is nice and weighs less than the standard carbine stock. There's a single drawback, and that's that the QD sockets suck on it. Yes it's a TA33, and I like the Lantac but I got rid of it for the MAMS because the concussion was annoying my friends and because it can't mount a suppressor.

>Why not both? I have four parts left to buy: 16" Barrel, VG6 Epsilon, some BUIS, and either an Aimpoint T2 or Trijicon TA31H/Green

>Why not both?
It's perfectly fine to do both, but then why waste income on something like a Primary Arms and a Vortex while waiting? Continues to show a not-so-smart pattern of spending money, in my opinion.

Does it have an FSB or are you completely without any sort of sights whatsoever? If it has an FSB, get yourself a Magpul BUIS rear or, preferably, a surplus KAC 600m rear off ebay. They'll both cost about the same and are sturdy. KAC is better, tho.

Git good with that, just don't expect anything like precision beyond 50m with basic irons. Then, move on to optics and figure out your pricerange.
>>
>>30325905
Melonite is what you get when you buy a PSA Freedom upper. It's a way of cheapening out on chrome lining, which is the industry standard. For a rifle that's just shy of $3000, a melonite barrel is hangyourself-tier.

Nah. Early model with no illumination and capped turrets.

Glass is better (though not by enough to matter on a low power optic), but it's more like a ~1.7-4.9 than it is 1.5-5x, and the 20mm objective/1" tube and capped turrets really kinda kill its usefulness. It's pretty fucking dim in anything other than full daylight

In over a decade of using all manner of colapsible stock so have never used lube on a buffer tube, or had to wear out the locking mechanism. If that's what you have to do to a stock then it's a shitty stock.

I've got a stripped polymer lower I haven't done anything with. Is it safe to blast the thing with spray paint until I get it some special snowflake color for a build? I'm not sure WHY spray paint would be bad for polymer but there might be something I'm not thinking of here.

>didn't change the garbage reticle for any of the later models
>all models are 1" tube/20mm objective
>glass is the same in all models
Literally my only complaint that wouldn't apply to later models is the capped turrets.

The Strike Eagle is brighter, with a better reticle, and should be more durable due to 30mm tube. It also has more elevation and windage adjustment range, again due to the 30mm tube. It's more like a 1.4-5.9x, so it has a more accurate and more useful magnification range. It's anywhere from $190-$350 vs. $800-$1100, so it's about a quarter the price with the *only* tradeoffs being marginally worse glass and being longer.

I do have both, and I do compare them side by side.

This is undisputable. All the models are SFP but they put a reticle in there that would be best on FFP because the stadia lines are invisible against anything other than a plain white background.

Take it apart, hole in the rear of the stock will give you access to the bolt holding the two halves together. Once you do that you can remove the spring and locking mechanism. Again once it's off put it in the trash.
>>
>>30326903
>an 80%
>ever cheaper
They could literally pay you $20 to take the lower and unless you already had all the equipment to mill it out it would still be more expensive than an Anderson or PSA blem.

And considering Andersons are $40 and the absolute cheapest 80% I've seen (without jig) is $50...

>all models still have a 20mm objective
again, go use it in the field. come back when you understand how much light the human eye can gather

Can't, I can't see shit through the mk4 unless it's broad daylight. Dusk or rainy days and it's too dim to see the reticle or any non-white/fluorescent target. Yet the SE does just fine, and I've even shot it in the middle of the night with a good moon.

>there's a reason the army uses mk4's on SPR setups and not Vortex
Because no appropriate Vortex scope existed at the time the contract was made and Leupold's been hob nobbing with contract monkeys for longer than Vortex has existed, not because they're in any way better. Same reason they don't use the NF on the M110 despite it being an objectively better scope in all regards while also being cheaper than the contracted mk6.

Seriously, do you own any Leupold product at all? Or have you ever touched a Vortex product that isn't one of their red dots?

with either a polymer or aluminum lower you can literally use a drill and a vise. you dont need a drill press.

i bought a tnarmsco polymer lower like 2 years ago after that big thread on here and ive had zero issues with it and i toss my rifle around quite a bit. those guys have done thermite tests and other torture tests on their lowers that show how strong they actually are. most poly lowers fail where the buffer tube is but theirs is reinforced with brass or something like that.

i will say you are more likely to get a lower that is out of spec due to the properties of polymer. my dad has 3 tnarmsco lowers and one of his he got was out of spec and because it was so cheap he just tossed it out. there have been a lot of bad experiences with other companies but so far from what ive seen, the tnsarmsco lowers have been pretty good.
