never really cared about 'moral' aspect of the issue as to whoever fault it was. nato isn't about morals, its about bureaucracy and military industrial complex, both ought to expand somewhere in order to exist. and if you leave the vacuum of power someone else will fill in the gap, that's the way it always worked so russian claims about being deceived after the fall of s.u. are quite outlandish.

regardless, purely from the standpoint of u.s. national interest, latest nato enlargements were strategic mistakes all around. being obliged to protect whole bunch of unknown people who can't fend for themselves never bodes well for you
