Hey, found this in a pawn shop for $450.
The fuck is it, and is it worth it?
>>
>>30293008
It's a pocket pistol and probably not. The timing is probably shit.
>>
>>30293008
kinda looks like a Schofield. Kinda.

where the fuck is the trigger?
>>
>>30293032
I'm fairly sure it's a Smith and Wesson, judging by the S&W on the upper part of the grips.

And the trigger is the little nub on the bottom of it. It's a break top revolver.
>>
>>30293008
probably worth about $200
>>
>>30293008
not worth it.
top break s&w? nope.
>>
>>30293069
if it works perfectly and is chambered in a findable caliber.
>>
>>30293032
Please tell me you are joking about the trigger.

As for the gun, could be any S&W knockoff Saturday night special. Aside from the sheathed trigger it looks exactly like a top break "U.S. Revolver Company" .38 we found in my grandmother's nightstand after she died.

Then again could actually be something but I'm betting no.
>>
Second model spur trigger. Possibly .32?

Also possibly a counterfeit, but you'd need a Smiff expert to tell you about that.
>>
>>30293074
>>30293091

Did a little more digging, looks like a Model 2 Second revision. Somewhere betweeen 1878 and 1890.

Here's a pic of the one on Wikipedia.
>>
>>30293053
It's not a Smith&Wesson, wrong logo. There were multiple S&Ws making guns. Some capitalised on the similarity in names and copied Smith&Wesson designs.
>>
>>30293032
your a fucking loser if you dont know where the trigger is, i hope you're trolling.
>>
>>30293053
S&W has never used a plain script like that on their revolvers as far as I have seen. Even old Model 3's had the S over W logo we always see.
>>
>>30293103
Check the logo on the grips. They could've been replaced or like >>30293107 pointed out a copy. Belgium and Spain were particularly notable for doing this during that period.
>>
So it appears it is a copy, but I can't quite tell which clone manuf built it.

It might be a baby russian.
>>
>>30293179
Doesn't matter, it's worth $150 tops.
>>
>>30293168
>>30293179

You are indeed correct...Hmm...
Regardless, I won't be buying it. And it's kind of a drive, so I doubt I'll ever know, one way or the other. Thanks for the info guys.

On a mildly related note, a Gander Mountain near me has a fairly dirty, but mechanically sound model 29-2 stainless in .357, 4" barrel, for $350. Thoughts?
>>
>>30293212

It seems that it may not be a clone. Very weird, because I've never seen this version of the S&W logo.
>>
>>30293209
If they made em in blued, then maybe? What's it worth, though?
>>
>>30293217

That is a better deal.
>>
>>30293069
you called it.

those are early smith and wesson grips.

NEVER BUY A GUN THERE
>>
>>30293229
it's not blued, the chrome is just worn off.
>>
>>30293295
I've had great luck in pawn shops.

Found a pristine Pre-64 Model 1894 Winchest for $600 in a pawn shop.

Any time I visit family in bumfuck nowhere I always check pawn shops. They're the least likely to actually know what they have.

wherever could it be
>>
>>30295118
total noob noguns here. i'm gonna guess that it's hidden and appears from that bottom nub after the hammer is cocked.
>>
It's a .38 S&W(not spl) SA S&W Baby Russian 1st mod. ~25 000 of these were made between 1876 and 1877, but the 1st model were used by law enforcement even as late as 1917. The model 2 was in production untill 1911.

Note: This is a blackpowder gun, do not use cartridges loaded with smokeless powder unless it's a weak load. I doubt the gun would "blow up" if you did use smokeless, but it would deteriorate pretty fast.

Also, you did get it for an OK price. There are people demanding ~600-~800 $ for these nowadays.
