Huh, I wonder if that should be expected from 1/1000 rounds or if you were just considerably unlucky and got a really bad round.

It was either this or Silver Bear, and this was two cents less a round so I went with it. I have some experience with Silver Bear but not with this so I figured I'd give it a shot considering how much praise it gets.

It aligns the gas block and sight block I'm pretty sure it's for pinning the gas\sight block
From thier website

Align the front sight, gas block and rear sight on your AK PERFECTLY, everytime!

Whether you're a pro builder or a home builder, our patented AK Alignment jig is a must.

Even works on guns that all the parts are already installed-simply drive out the retaining pins, slap on the AK Alignment Jig, realign the parts that are canted, redrill and repin and you're done!
>>
>>30258187
I could but honestly I don't care for it. It's my home defense rifle as well so I'm gonna put a light on it which the magpul mlok will let me do, just haven't gotten around to It yet. It's more of a functional gun than a beauty, down the road I wanna grab a deffinative arms dakm 4150 when money is avaliable and if firearms are still avaliable. Plan on leaving that in some nice wood.

I have but honestly I want to put a zhukov (it's a boot i know) on it to take advantage of the ak's ability to side fold over the ar, the bulgy side folder folds left so that's not an option for me cuz it'll get in the way of my rs mount. I wanna buy alot of shit for that gun but I'm broke and need to buy ammo before it's all bought up.

Naw kidding, I prefer the over the magwell mount for red dots. If I were to put a 4x prism scope from PA on my ak I would do the rear biased mount tho. Nice set up tho
>>
>>30258293
Sweet, I also like that the Zhukov Will do the cheek riser for a perfect cheek weld when looking thru the red dot. Only qualm is I know that a metal side folder would never break whereas the Zhukov Will snap rather easily if in the folded position. That being said I don't plan on running over it in a truck (akou). Also the metal folder is heavier.

Thanks, I also got a black US palm grip for it after I took the picture. I honestly wish I got an ak303 mount but my PA microdot and the mount were cheaper as a bundle. Now I am stuck with either a short scope or a red dot.

>>30258362
For me, the regular stock does just fine. The only thing i would consider getting a cheek riser for would be a PSO scope or and obzor.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a zoomed 5,45 calibrated optic that would fit an rs regulate 302 mount?
>>
>>30258371
I think the 5.45 flies about as flat as a 5.56 so any optic calibrated for that should work for a 5.45. But that's really just a guess, I don't think the 5.45 is popular enough in America for western optic companies to make a caliber calibrated optic for it
>>
>>30258371
Yea here they lump it in with the 5.56 and .308
http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-16x-scope-with-patented-acss-556-545-308-reticle-advanced-combined-sighting-system-paps16x-eta-late-aprilmay-2016/p/paps1-6x/
>>
>>30258371
Now idk if PA zoomed optics are up to your standards but ppl seem to like em. Good grief I gotta lay off the adderall.
>>
>>30258387
Looks a bit big/long. I was thinking more on the lines of a compact fixed mag scope, more like an acog.

>>30258378
I think the 5.45 i use flies at about 2850 fps (wolf 69gr)>>30258378

>>30258398
considering I have a PA red dot I am 100% satisfied with, I assume their zoomed optics are held to the same quality?
>>
>>30258215
Again you have no idea what the problem is do you? The problem is that it doesn't give you room to press the parts on with the jig UNLESS you press on the jig to press on the components. Jesus fuck, I hate fucking tripfags that don't know what they're talking about.
>>
>>30258413
I assume they're great quality as well, these are out of stock currently but since they use the same reticle as the other scope I linked even tho it says "5.56 3x optic" it should work with your 5.45. I originally looked at this one for the 7.62x39 when going to put an optic on my wasr but realistically I'll never be shooting enmes beyond 150yds so I went with the red dot

>>30257986
If you're really set on an RPK kind of thing, get an O-PAP, they're built on RPK receivers and bulged trunnions.

You're not missing much with the shorter barrel and regular stock.
>>
>>30258435
How would you press the jig off? My point was that it's not a jig for pressing the barrel components on its for aligning them for pinning.

>>30258527
>Would you recommend the Obzor?
Depends on what you want with your rifle. Do you want a more aesthetically pleasing and more fitting optic to go with the rifle but that is still more than adequate? Do you have an interest in Slavshit? Then yes. Do you want the best and will you regret dropping $400+ on something if it isn't the best? Then no, buy an Aimpoint.

>What's its biggest advantage
No batteries, I love the reticule, just all around really weird yet still very functional and a real head turner whenever anyone sees it. I personally really like it and would buy it again in a heartbeat.
>and drawback
Weight, height over bore means chinweld (which I don't mind at all once I got used to it), expensive for what it is (At least now as they used to be cheaper only a few months ago, $400+ is Aimpoint PRO territory which will be the better optic), if something were to go wrong you're pretty stuck with an expensive and ugly paperweight.

Because it came with a thread cap as opposed to a slant style, I bought that break like three years ago when I got the gun and I guess I just liked the contrast to the slant style on my wasr and vz. My SA-M7 has a terrible looking muzzle brake but it's welded on, so that one is for another time.

Buy some plate carrier while you guys are at it!

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xplate+carrier+10x12.TRS0&_nkw=plate+carrier+10x12&_sacat=0

If you decide to buy the plates and the carrier rigs separately then I recommend purchasing the lvl 3+ plates insetad of just the 3's. They stop armor piercing rounds up to 30-06 caliber for only like $10 more a plate!! For obvious reasons don't buy any plates lower than lvl 3's.....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CATI-AR500-Body-Armor-OD-MOPC-Plate-Carrier-Level-3-BASE-COATING-10X12-6x8-/331836712397?hash=item4d430265cd:g:~BMAAOSwKfVXF9pK

You'll have to build about five or six jigs for different shit, plus buy some gauges and do a lot of reading.
>>
>>30264014
You would probably be able to put one together then. You'll need a hydraulic press, I assume you have one of these. You'll need jigs to smash the rivets, which you could probably fabricate yourself. You can't just use snap rivets, sorry. It's a pretty work intensive process that you can fuck up if you're not careful, and either the AK won't work or it will beat itself apart. Watch YouTube videos and good luck to you

You really think having a 1.5mm receiver automatically makes it an rpk? An rpk thick receiver alone doesn't even begin to make it an rpk on it's own.
>>30257986
IDK why they can't put out the bit of extra effort to recreate an rpk look with the bi-pod. Also, include a cleaning rod for fuck sake if you are going through the effort to pin an extra cleaning rod guide onto the barrel.
>>30260532
It fills the role, but still is missing some key rpk features.
>>
>>30264774

an additional $250 gets you an imported Arsenal with folding stock and CHF barrel.

DDI is GTG though for a range toy.
>>
>>30260056
>You're not missing much with the shorter barrel and regular stock.
And I will agree there. RPKs are a novelty and a toy, not all that handy otherwise. I'd argue their FAR less handy than a regular weight/size 1mm thick stamped ak in the same caliber. Too heavy for very little extra practical benefit.

Went back and did it again. It's a combination of the angle and the front sight. The sight is level on the table but the right hand portion is slightly thiner at the top and makes it look like its not touching.

How common are canted sights anway? Never really been into AKs.

I mean the Russian AK parts kits alone around $500+ depending on what you need, then another $200 for a good barrel, another $100 for the receiver, and then $400-500 to get it built or buy the tools to build it yourself.
>>

From the looks of this thread the handguards on the sam7k have a slightly thinner tab on the back (because milled receiver) but you could probably add a little epoxy and sand it down to widen the plastic lug.

>>
>>30273791
Definitely the goto budget AK if youre not into a WASR.
Special snowflake furniture can be annoying tho
>>
>>30274161
The pistol grip and stock would be a drop in conversion, except the stock won't fit quite right because most Veprs have a slant cut receiver for some retarded reason. It will still fit, but a section of the stock that is supposed to be buried in the receiver will be exposed. You can buy an adapter to fill the gap but some people just use them without.

For the upper handguard you'll have to buy a new gas tube, as the Vepr gas tube doesn't have the brackets for the upper handguard. You need a handguard retainer for the lower handguard, you can buy aftermarket ones that bolt on to the barrel.
>>
What is /akg/ opinion on the SKS. I am a jew and was thinking about picking up a Yugo SKS. How reliable are they, how well do they do in regards to accuracy, and what is the availability of spare parts? On the fence on either the SKS or a WASR 10 from Atlantic. >>30274623
WASR.
>>
>>30274623
They're great rifles. Accuracy wise, I feel like it's easier to shoot accurately than a 16" gun because of the longer sight radius.
And you'll never need spare parts most likely, maybe get a spare recoil spring, piston spring, and firing pin if you're paranoid.

Seems shitty though, because with a regular retainer you can take your LHG off with the throw of a lever, but you have to use a screwdriver to take it off with a bolt on retainer. I just finished building an AMD-65

I know a lot of people think they are ugly, but I like the strange look. I never installed the front grip so it looks a little less unnatural. Just have to point out that I have to consciously keep my fingers off the gas tube to prevent burns, but other than that I like it. It is quite light, too.

Woop woop. Got some Tula shinies today. Time to finally stop using the diahrrea green promags.

Can someone hook me up with a "bakelite" mag to complete my tiny collection?
Live in Europe.
>>
>>30284009
I can (i'm the recent group buy supplier)
Though i'll have 30 round 5.45 bakes only in 2-3 weeks.
>>
>>30257986
To put it simply, Century Arms has fucking nonexistent quality control.
>>
>>30284095
That'd be sweet.

I really want
one or two "bakelite" mags (would be nice with one Russian/Soviet and one DDR)
one of the clear mags (Polish? doesn't matter if it's the green hue type)
and a Polish metal one
not sure where to get them as there are very few European sources that ship to non-EU countries (Norway), and even fewer that won't charge you 200 euros in shipping if they really do ship at all.
>>
>>30284125
If I were you I would verify with VAfag that the email you use to communicate with that anon is the real supplier's email and not the fake. I got scammed in a similar situation recently by someone on here. I would at least use PayPal goods and services and use the buyer protection if you don't have your mags within 30 days (when the buyer protection expires). The anon led me on until the 30 day period was up and now I'm fucked. Be careful
>>

1V. Or since you are possibly a yuro, a Vepr KM if you can get one.
>If you're looking for a more "traditional" AK, that is.
>>
I've shot pistols before, but nothing like an AK-47. Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don't know what you're doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions--loud like a bomb--gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun a few times, I was anxious and irritable.

>The 16" rifle or the full length rpk? A sporter saiga or the military style model?
I'd vote saiga if you are in a country where you can get an ak-74 style saiga out of the box instead of all the dickery we go through in the US.
The 1v is really neat, but I'd rather have a lighter rifle with ak74 style features. The 1v's stock is likely to be a bit more comfortable though, it feels pretty nice IMO.

Well after seeing this, it seems like you might be right. Hmm.
You're definitely right about not seeing them stateside because of the scary 3rd pin hole.
But now that FIME has the exclusive import rights to Molot guns, maybe they can get them to make new sporter receivers and we could get some in.

Damn, threads almost over. Hopefully somebody can respond anyways.

I'm at a pretty shitty road right now. The Orlando shooting couldn't come at a worse time.

I was really hoping to get myself going on a down payment at one of my LGS's on an AK, ($800-$1200 budget), because as of now, I don't have money to pay in full, and I'd be paying in increments with the layaway. Unfortunately, the guy's at the LGS said that they can't do layaway on special orders because they have a history of people backing out after they've purchased the special order, so I either pay in full or nothing.

Now because that fucking faggot couldn't bear it anymore and shot up a gay bar, he's reinvigorated the gun control debate and now people are panic buying again. Like I said, I don't have money to pay for the AK in full, and by the time I do, the price will have gone up past my comfortable range I'm sure of it, and it's only going to get higher the closer to November we get.

What do? Pretty damn irritated right now.

Shit, hadn't thought of that for some reason.

I mean, I'm no noob, I'm pretty intermediate with guns by now, know most of the terminology and internal functions. I'm pretty sure that I'd be able to manage an assembly with the help of a few guides here and there.

Hmmm. That does sound like a pretty decent idea. Although, on the same token, I wouldn't be sure about the quality control on the parts, like the barrel.

Is there a guide I can reference to detailing me which brands/parts I should avoid and pursue? And would it be generally cheaper or more expensive to custom build?

the saiga would be a non sporterized one and you guessed right, i am a yurobean. the VEPR would be the mini 1V, not the full size one, although the furniture sucks and i cant find anything about its furniture compatibility on the webs. also, the saiga is a whole lot cheaper (and longer) than the 1v mini, according to the store the 1v mini and the saiga weigh the same
