Because the 19 is the new IT gun. The one for popular kids to have. When you hear teens who know nothing about guns absolutely brag on the merits of the 19 over all other guns you know it's a passing fancy. Its merely a meh pistol. Not great and not shitty. Kinda like modern restaurants that make bland good so the largest amount of people will be repeat customers. No strong tastes so the least amount of people will be turned off by something they serve.

Basically every major sight company that produces handgun sights makes sights for them, lights, lasers, grips, the list goes on and on and on.

And because they're so prevalent they're great for shtf fantasies just like ARs because of the parts compatability.

tl;dr: they're not the greatest but they're good, inexpensive, and have all the mid life crisis toys you could want to add to it available for purchase.

The Glock 19 is literally a gun you cannot go wrong with. Trying to convince someone to get one just because "X uses it!" is bullshit and the 19 has merits of its own.

If I had to tell a noguns to buy a 9mm handgun for his first gun without explaining to him what to look for like ergos, weight and whatever, I would recommend a Glock 19 over anything else.

I'll probably swipe one for myself when I see a Gen 3 trade in for $350-$400

Just as good and I got it for $300 and it's barely been shot, parts are a little harder to find but I don't really care. Not paying $500-$600 for just another striker-fired pistol when there are other options for cheaper.
