This

Otherwise they are a solid rifle and they make a good truck gun with the crutch folder, but Im an AK guy first and a czechnology fag only with pistols so i stick to AK's for comonality

Yes it is... and it works great... good vents so a lot of the heat gets blown out, does get a little warm as to be expected when rapid firing etc... light weight and built strong..

Mine is by BC tactical.

I've used both, own the cz model.
The vz2008 isn't nearly as polished as the real deal, and the action was sandpapery as hell, but I'd still pick it over a similarly priced ak since I like the all around features better. It actually shot damn well after removing the slant brake, but was way off till I took it off.
I'd have a harder time deciding between my cz vz58 and a slr-107 with the ak-74 style features I like so much in an average ak. But I'd still probably pick the vz because I love how easy it is to put stripper clips in my pockets since they're far more comfortable to casually carry with me. And the fixed vz stock is the most comfy military stock I've ever handled, and the folder even feels pretty good for a wire folder, and works in a way that's actually handy unlike my two ak folders. I can drop it from folded to unfolded in seconds without babying which makes it extremely useful as my farm vehicle gun. Webm incoming to demonstrate.

Just hit the button, and it's folded out via gravity as I shoulder the rifle. So handy.
I view my other ak folders as space savers, but not all that useful since I can't transition worth a damn unless I pull and baby it the entire length.
And IMO, the ak wire and underfolders just feel like arse compared to the vz folder.
>>
>>30218974
How much did it set you back?
Anyone know whats the cheapest I could find one?
>>
Mine is a 2008. The one thing I didn't care for is that it doesn't look like it has chrome lined barrel. Or whomever owned it doesn't clean
>>
>>30219297
It doesn't have a chrome lined barrel, but you aren't shooting corrosive ammo so I don't see the big deal.
>>
>>30219138

I have one, a century vz2008. Paid 350 for it. Came with 5 mags, sling, cleaning kit. I didn't like the grip so I put a mako on it like yours. Love the folding stock. Very reliable. I only feed mine wolf and tula I've only had one or two hiccups after probably 8-900 rounds. Likely from a faulty mag. Hope you like it.

Speaking of furniture changes. Have you taken the fucking cuck-stock off the Daewoo yet?
>>
>>30218974
There isn't anything really wrong with it.

Cz fanboys obsess over it, and the fact that it manages to be lighter than a stamped AK despite being milled, somehow this makes it the best rifle ever, in truth, it's an -OK- rifle, it doesn't do anything wrong, but it doesn't really do anything exceptional either.

If you have it, you have a rifle, and it works, that's good.

>>30218994
I kind of like the unassuming basic tacticool look of it, makes it look more tastefully plain, I used to dislike that kind of look, but it kind of grew on me.

>>30219066
Actually looks pretty decent with the optic

I've never seen one with that stock being sold in Canada. I got some M4 replica stock with mine, but I had to replace all the furniture save the nice CSA rubber pistol grip with the original beaver barf because I couldn't bear to look its ugly ass.

I prefer my Czechpoint vz to my Norinco (but I prefer 5.45 over 7.62x39 and my SLR is my top favorite rifle) and I'd consider a *good* vz to be the closest thing to a perfect 7.62x39 rifle.

If I could only have a vz or an AK, though, I'd choose an AK simply because cheaper and more available everything. But, having both, I shoot the vz considerably more often than the AK simply because it's a better gun from a shooter's perspective.
>>
>>30218974
The VZ is a bit smoother of a shooter than most AKs and the build quality is a bit more consistent.

The cons are that the mags are usually more rare and more expensive, and sometimes finding good fitting furniture is difficult.

Also because the VZ ejects shells in a bizarre way the scope has to be mounted pretty far rearward.

>>30222464
Yes because I bought the Czechpoint new with 6 mags in 2008ish for $650 shipped back when Czechpoint didn't charge $1000+ for their guns and back when they were built with NOS surplus parts and original blue-grey Czech military finish rather than new production parts and ugly black finish.

The only thing Century has going with their vzs is that they don't cost a grand and could be had for around $450 with four mags. I'd have a hard time considering a Czechpoint today because of both the price and the ugly black finish instead of the original Czech military finish which looks really neat.
>>
>>30219138
>>30218974

just my opinion but FUCK buffertube stocks on things that dont need buffer tubes.
>>
>>30222464
>>30222503
Also, back in the day Century wasn't an option. Sure, they had their vz2008s but they were literal garbage. It was either pay $500 for a shitty Century that you would 100% have problems with and have to get fixed or pay ~$600-~$800 depending on the year for a Czechpoint that both was a better rifle and wouldn't give you problems.

Century's vzs now are alright guns and they've really improved, but back then no way Jose they were shit. Dan from Czechpoint started straight up refusing to work on Century guns simply because he was so swamped with work from having to repair them when they weren't even his and that caused a lot of butthurt from Century owners in the past because he was one of the few guys who could actually do anything with vzs because they were considerably less known and less popular back then (back when they truly were special snowflake rifles)

I like it for the role I wanted it for, I plan on chopping the barrel down to the gas block (after paperwork ofc) and having it as a sort of concealable rifle. It has an edge for that because it's lighter and a bit smaller than my AK.

As far as having it as a primary rifle, no. First of all its a century, and I wouldn't drop 1k+ on the czechpoint one when I got my saiga for $300. If you are willing to drop the 1k, it's certainly not a bad rifle but I don't think the tradeoffs make it superior to an AK, parts/upgrade availability and mag commonality being the major ones.

I hope you know to ream the gas-port, cutting the barrel on a gas operated weapon changes the pressures
