Okay I'm no specialist but he is carrying two tanks for additional range and two bombs.
I suppose it's a countermeasures pod, the stick on the right wing is an air/air missile?
anyhow, how is it cost effective to send a jet fighter with all the measures to protect it carrying only two bombs? He can destroy one or two objectives, wouldn't a missile be cheaper?

Dyess was one of the bases that was hit by the cutbacks. They used to have yearly airshows, but before that one, they hadn't had one for about 4 years. That year happened to be the 30th anniversary of the Bone coming to Dyess, so they scraped together a 2 day show with the Thunderbirds.

You cant just take FBW out like its a USB stick. The aircraft will literally not fly without it.
They only take the gun out and give the pilot even more flight aids by making the stick have more tension.
