Get your hands on a big, thick wire bundle that looks like it came out of an Apache somewhere. Go up to your crew chief and apologize, tell him there were a lot of problems with this bird, and that you had to cut this wire bundle out of the machine.

Be prepared for incoherent and apparently fucking hilarious wrath. Be advised you will probably be beaten WITH the wire bundle even AFTER you disclose it's a prank. Still worth it, though.
