you aren't but they won't be able to do that without replacing the material of the frame from aluminum to steel. in fact, they seem to be going the opposite direction since their newest model has a polymer frame.

they didn't even make a 10mm/.40s&w model and instead opted for just .40s&w which i'm guessing was due to the frames not being able to withstand 10mm in the long term. the cylinder is certainly long enough to accommodate 10mm.

one thing they did fuck up though is the cylinder release. you'll see wear and/or scratches on the finish under the release on many rhinos because the it comes in contact with the frame.

the false hammer always rests in the upright position even when the hammer is cocked, but there's a little red indicator that sticks out behind the rear sight when the hammer is cocked.

i don't like the top rail on the 60DS, but if you want to use an optic then it would make sense to get that.

i originally bought the 200D for $520 and was pretty happy since i was actually shopping for a snub nose revolver in the $500 range. then three days later they put up the 40DS, 50DS, and 60DS for $500 for the black models and $550 for white. all in .40s&w. i wasn't sure if i want to blow another half a grand so soon, but by the time i decided to do so both the 50DS and 60DS in white were sold out and i didn't care for the ones in black. overall, i was split between the 50DS and 40DS and had the 50DS not sold out by the time i decided to buy another i might have gone with that. for .40s&w i don't think the extra inch would help much, so it was purely an aesthetic choice, but for .357 i imagine 50DS would be the better choice unless you specifically want something more compact.

they actually still have one white 200D for $550 and a few black 200Ds for $500, but they are in .40s&w.

i only have the free OWB galco holster that came with it, but i have no plans of carrying the 40DS. the 200DS is small enough that it might work for pocket carry with some pants, and otherwise the OWB holster it came with should work fine since it rides fairly high on the belt.

I cant seem to find a consensus on the rhino 200D. Looks like a great small revolver

my two questions

1.) I have heard reliability issues, from a few different places. I know ALL guns can have problems. Well... fuck. Will this gun be reliable?

2.) the only ones available on the sportsman website are in 40SW caliber. The price is too good to pass up, but I'm just worried that most people seem to prefer 357 magnum... is there something wrong with 40 SW?

i looked into any problems rhinos have before buying the first one, and the bulk of the complains were from people that didn't own one and disliked how they looked.

with that said, they have a life time warranty and any legitimate complains were for largely early models and were taken care of by chiappa. the only recent complain i can think of was from someone that shot .38 special though his and then had problems when he tried to shoot .357 magnum because he didn't clean out the chambers (.38 is shorter than .357). after he cleaned them out he reported that the gun had no other problems.

as for the price? these guns are imported. my guess is that the US importer overestimated the demand for the .40S&W models, had to sit on them while no orders came it, so eventually they cleared them out at a bargain price just to get some cash flow.

.40S&W out of a 2" barrel is actually better than .357 magnum, so you're not losing anything in terms of performance. the one negative is that you need to use moonclips for the .40S&W models. the extractor doesn't extract the rounds directly, but rather the moonclip that holds the rounds.

i wanted to get a 686 PC with the 2.5" barrel before i got the two rhinos. problem was that i didn't want to pay over $800 for it and i've read nothing but complaints about how uncomfortable shooting .357 magnum out of a barrel that short is. so when the cheap rhinos showed up i just went with them.

7 round cylinder is pretty neat though, but sucks about the hillary hole if it's a new one.

it's not ideal of course, but they can be gotten relatively cheap. $29 directly from chiappa for 10, or you can get 8 for $9 from midway for the S&W 646 which supposedly also work in the rhino.
