Is the Russian Navy a paper tiger? I counted all the anti ship missiles in their cruisers and destroyers and the US has vastly more defensive missiles than Russia can dish out. I didn't count their submarine cruise missiles. Check out the math from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_Russian_Navy_ships#Ships_in_service:

>1 Kuznetsov class
12 P-700

>2 Kirov class
2x20 P-700

>3 Slava class
3x16 P-500

>9 Udaloy class
9x8 P-270

>8 Sovremennyy class
8x8 P-270

>2 Admiral Grigorovich
2x8 Klub

>13 Nanuchka
13x6 P-120

>25 Tarantul
25x16 Kh-35

Total anti ship missiles = 730

===========

Now the US side:

>62 Arleigh Burke
>96 VLS
>Assume 1/3 for anti air
62x32 RIM-66M/RIM-174

>22 Ticonderoga
>122 VLS
>Assume 1/3 for anti air
22x40 RIM-66M/RIM-174

Total anti air missiles = 2864

===========

Assuming that USA has to shoot 3 defensive missiles per offensive missile, (730x3=2190 < 2864), the American navy can withstand any Russian surface saturation attack against a carrier battle group. It is mathematically impossible for Russia to win a surface war against USA.

If you think this list is accurate, you are pretty naive
>>

Anyone can edit that shit, you know this right?

I compared it to this: http://russianships.info/eng/

It's pretty close. I forgot to include the Buyan class but Russia most definitely is BTFO by USA. They just don't have enough missiles LOL.
>>
Because their strategy is Sea Denial, defensive, you should also have to add land-based aviation, anti-ship missiles and the like. Nukes is another thing to take into account. On the other hand, the Russian navy is in the process to replace all their soviet relics. First the small embarkations and submarines, later bigger surface ships.

The Russian *everything* is a paper tiger, Anon.
>>
>>30011030
Well I was just considering high sea battle with naval ships. Of fucking course Russia would win near their ports and with land weapons.

Projects 949A, 885, 971, 877, 636, 21631, 11661 and 1239, AS-4, SSC-6, SSC-5. Next time try harder.

Which is the whole point, since only a complete idiot would combat the USN on terms profitable to the USN. Russia doesn't have any sea trade routes outside of their zone of comfort to protect. You either come at them and get rekt or don't come at them and then, well, what was the point of deploying your navy again?
>>
>>30010054
Daily reminder that the last time russian was in a naval battle, they lost 2 to 5 against unarmed fishing trawlers.
>>
>>30010054

Not really, to be a paper tiger you have to look impressive in the first place.
>>
>>30010054
>Russian navy

>Any navy other than the US's

Say what you like about the US but no other navy in the world even comes close.

Wait... I pretty sure that Kuznetsov-class is aircraft carrier. And I'm sure that planes can't carry P700 because it's fucking huge.

My point was that Russia isn't that scary outside their borders. I never realized the massive size of the American navy compared to the rest of the world until I did the missile count. There's just no country that can challenge USA on neutral seas.
>>
>>30010054

Kuznetsov doesn't carry any P-700s anymore
>>
>>30018059
Russia was never nothing more than a paper tiger when it comes to warfare outside their immediate zone of influence. They are a huge landmass that has terrible problems just being able to defend themselves. This vastness was many times utilized by Russians for their own defense but it also creates problems for the defenders in times of modern air superiority weapons.

People need to remember that if separated from earth Russia could form it's own planet. Not a dwarf planet but a planet. Meaning it would be bigger than Pluto.
>>
>>30018059

It's a natural landpower. By the same token, Russia's geography limits the capabilities of naval powers, both her own and of natural oceanic powers (like the US).
>>
The Russian navy exist to multiply the capabilities of the land forces. Not to be a force on its own.
>>
>>30010054
they also have cruise missile carrier aircraft like Tu-134 and Tu-22M
some of their heli can carry anti ship missile like ka-27 and Ka-52K
though the mistral failure delay Ka-52K to some where 2020
>>
>>30013865
It's called heavy aircraft carrying missile cruiser for a reason.

For what purpose? Besides, subs don't care about the neutrality of the seas.

390 grams is only the weight of the shell. The actual round weights 832 grams, meaning it's actually 2829 kilograms of rounds every second, i.e. more than six 1000 lb JDAMs per second.

Appears to be 2x500 rounds per system and a total of 3000 rounds for the modified variant.

Good luck finding a situation where the USN can muster all its assets against Russia alone, and even if you do its all moot since the Russians can always rage quit and topple the chessboard so to speak.
>>30018059
>My point was that Russia isn't that scary outside their borders.
Speak for yourself, Mr. "I'm flanked by Admirals Atlantic and Pacific".
Moving 160k troops, 1000 tanks and 130 aircraft on an average distance of 3000 kms from the edge of civilization to the middle of bumfuck nowhere is insanely impressive, if not downright terrifying. Thats about as far as Moscow - London and they would actually go even further across Europe's well developed roads and railways all things being equal. And all this is with arguably the least improved MD out of all 4.

Are you talking about some specific recent military exercise?
