They will ricochet for sure, but you should be fine with eye pro since they lose energy very quickly.
My dad used to shoot stray dogs with it to scare them off, no penetration whatsoever after 5 yards and loss of almost all effectiveness after 10-15.
It will fuck up sneks and other tiny critters though with minimal collateral damage. Since that's kind of what it's made for you know.

It should be fine, .22 rat shot is weak as fuck so ricochets shouldn't be a problem, but make sure you wear eye pro. My friends dad used .22 rat shot on mice inside their garage and I never heard him say it fucked something up, other than the mouse.

Can't recommend.
When my father first got into guns he attempted to remove hiss in a stone-walled back yard. .22 came right back at him. Not really dangerously fast, but 2/10 would not recommend. Def. Eye pro if you go for it. If just have someone retrieve the snek/be of pet snek, but if you must remove hiss I'd say go shovel or hatchet and stay the fuck back. They are fast fuckers.

Indeed, they suck in 45 too. I shot a snake 2x at 5ft and they did nothing to it, snake hardly reacted, and saw no blood. Snake got away to safety. I can't imagine the 22lr version being useful for anything, except maybe baby mice in a nest
