thats a brazilian mauser, typically also worth about $300 but in that condition I'd say $175, its awfully pitted, bluing pretty much gone and it looks like someone did a very poor job attempting to refinish it

if you buy either check to see if the rifling is still intact at all

honestly id pass on both bruv.

fun fact about the ishapore
>The Ishapore 2A/2A1 has the distinction of being the last bolt-action rifle designed to be used by a regular military force other than specialized sniper rifles
Indians still using bolt action rifles in the 60s
>>
>>29813966
I actually have an Ishapore no.3 that's still .303. Pretty neat, it's beat to hell though.
>>
>>29814104

303 ishapore will have the lee enfield mag tho

any 303 is fun, shame its so pricey
>>
>>29814124
Yep has the angled enfield mag, its a 1952 iirc and yeah .303 is a blast, I usually shoot the round tipped ones and they just sound funny going down range.
>>
>>29814141

I've been meaning to buy my pops some PPU .303, he has a bunch of SMLE's, no.4's, even a no.5 but he never shoots them
>>
>>29814175
I have a MkIII* my grandfather made a sporter. Even though it's "ruined" I don't care about its monetary value. Matching numbers and all, hell he even had some 1944 FMJ in a tin with the rifle, a lot of the lead ball stuff too, but the necks were all cracked and brittle.
>>
>>29814020
Any way to double check the caliber of the mauser? Out isn't written anywhere on it
>>
Also is the ishapor alright to shoot 308 through
>>
>>29814267

well, at least he did an ok job sporting it. I can see why people did that back in the day, you could buy an SMLE for like, $50. You could always buy new stock pieces for it, check out liberty tree collectors

>>29814270

to my knowledge, all brazilian mausers were made in 7x57mm, which is pretty rare and will run you 70 cents per round or more.

>>29814312

i'd stick to 7.62x51
>>
>>29814402
He told me he got it for $10, and yeah I'll check them out.
>>
>>29814312
yes, mine loves Partizan .308 which is a fairly light load.
Just keep an eye on the brass, these Ishapores have fairly loose headspace, like all Enfields.
>>
>>29814270
It says ".30" on the right side of the receiver ring. That may be a caliber designation.
>>
>>29814562
What should I look for? Bulged primers?
>>
>>29814402
>>29815497
After some quick research it looks like it's chambered in .30-06. During world war two Brazil adopted it as it's rifle caliber and rebarreled them. That's what the .30 represents. Now I wonder if it can handle modern full power -06

that, rough extraction, and bulges on the case head where the extractor cut is.
when in doubt, put it down.
Given that ZQI makes cheap 7.62, I'd say get that; if you're like me and stuck shooting SP, light loaded .308 is fine.
