Well, would they work well.....

The brass would eject upwards rather than to the side so its more likely to fly in your face, you have the same issue with a number of older pistol designs that ejected the brass upwards the like Mauser C96 and the Luger. Its not like every casing would eject in your face; but every now and then one would land on you.
