Are FN49's worth the money? I'm really wanting to get one, but I always get buyers remorse after buying a gun. I want to make sure I'm making a good choice.

I'm probably going to go for an 8mm one, because I already shoot 8mm, and they seem to go for around $800.

They are very aesthetically pleasing rifles

You can find 8mm ones cheaper than that.

But yes they are good guns.

There's a Luxemborg contract one on gunbroker for $1750.

Is that a good price for one of those?
>>
They are great rifle OP. 8mm isn't cheap though. Still, 8mm will wreck anything it hits. Fn49 has awesome sights too

They're amazing. Odds are if the Nazi's hadn't canned it when they invaded Belgium, it may have been in the same spotlight the Garand is today.

In my honest opinion, it's better in almost every way.

Yea, Luxembourg only ordered 6,306 rifles so that's how many were made. Luxembourg contract guns haven't been imported since the 1990s, but they're great because out of all the Model 1949s imported they were probably in the best condition of them all.

I'd say if you really want a FN Model 1949 in great shape and in a common caliber then $1750 isn't bad.

I have one in 7mm, it's nice. Can't find a bayonet and the screw that holds the bottom metal/trigger group assembly likes to work itself loose. That's my only complaint from shooting it.

No. You can find them for around $1000 pretty regularly.

They didn't can it; the designer fled to Britain.
>>

How are these compared to a Hakim in 8mm? The hakim's have some more heft, but I know both can have higher cap mags from other platforms adapted to them
>>

What is this beautiful weapon, and where can I aquire one?
>>

Hakims have a weird action that can fuck your fingers up when loading then. FN49's have a "regular" action, and also seem to be better made.

>>29796080
It's an FN49 with a scope.

Just keep checking gunbroker. You might get lucky.

Nice gun. Be aware of the 2 piece firing pin.
Watch out for slam firing, especially with commercial ammo.

Hakims are more fun and cheaper though.
