In general, full length metal handguards are by no means lightweight. One could rock classic A2 handguards (truly minimalist), buy lightweight gucci rails, or go with an AR pistol (shorter barrels are handier even with full length rails)

Watching Demdebate, Hillary shilling super hard to ban gun manufacturing in US, Bernie pointing out he tried to ban "assault weapons" in his state. Made me realize I should probably pick up an AR before November.

Am I missing anything and could I get some optics recommendations? I have shit eyes and hate red dots or 1x sights, would prefer something variable. I intend to use this gun primarily for hunting medium game and general duty rifle.

Was going to get a Marlin 1895GBL and Leupold VX-1 on Leupold See-Thru rings with my next paycheck but figured any bans wouldn't cover "fudd" guns like that and optics won't be banned. Would the optic set up I was planning for the 1895 work well enough on the AR?

Nah, that would look different. Shit would basically blow the fuck up.
It looks like it only started to yaw towards the end of the can, the ogive hit the ~7th to last baffle and fucked up the following ones, but corrected its course somewhat before exiting the can, otherwise the exit end of the can would look very different (his was mostly fine),

yeah, it most likely started to melt in the chamber, once it left the barrel it destabilized and started to hit baffles immediately.
the last baffle was the one with the biggest hole and it stopped right at the end cap. it hit the thickest part of the end cap and that's why it didn't damage it.

normally i wouldn't mag dump poly ammo, but it was on 30cpr.

Just placed an order with PSA, Milsurp's rifle has me wanting to do like a midlength M4-franken-forgery of sorts. I'll start here, and get a classic lower in about a month, Midwest drop in quad rail, GG&G short VFG, rear sight is up for debate. I'm thinking something metal and folding, not sure which yet. I got a mil spec BCG and charging handle around here somewhere. Eventually I'll get an optic of some sort, maybe even a Surefire flashlight.

Nah not really. I've had it on there for months without any problems. It's tightly secured to the rail sections.

I've taken it on and off a few times just to change the pattern on it because I'm bored or whatever but I've never actually seen it get cooked up enough to matter.
