I don't know the law in Germany, but you ought to check if the request for a rifle is the same for a pistol.
Plus, if you have a limited amount of money, you should maybe check if there are any second hand rifle because if it is the case, you will, maybe, be able to buy a .223 rifle for the same price than an EVO ( which is around 1800€ if I am correct ).

Doesn't need to be an evo. Could also be a beretta cx4 which is certainly not banned since I shit one last week.

evo 3 is alright but a tad pricey, especially if you're gonna convert it into an SBR, if you have the money go for it.

I would also recommend a full size handgun as a (possible) alternative. It's easier to store/carry/hide, and cheaper than the Evo.

Or get an AK patter rifle, even more power, for a good cost (ammo's relatively cheap) and they can make good SBR's

AKs are significantly more expensive than a Vz58/CZ858, which is pretty much just as effective. A new AK often costs twice as much as a 'new' CZ858 or re-arsenaled Vz58.
Glocks (and most polymer wonders) are way overpriced for what they are over here.

The pistol I'd suggest to novice pistol shooters is the CZ75 SP01 Shadow. Allows them a cheap intro into sportshooting and they can use it to compete in IPSC etc if they chose to.

That's incorrect. Your club might have such a rule, but you can have an sportshooting license from 16 years old. You cannot own a gun, but you can handle firearms with it and buy ammo for immediate consumption.

When you hit 18 years old, you can use that SSL to acquire firearms.

Rule of thumb for prices across the pond =
Take american price in dollars, smack on euros instead without using any conversion and then add about 10-20% on top.

This is correct, even for euro produced weapons. It's part economy of scale (volume sold by euro gunstores and distributors is way lower, so they have to charge more to turn a decent profit) and part taxation/regulation (not just VAT, but also additional tarrifs on guns and ammo).

There are exceptions, like the Vz58. But they're just that... Exceptions.

The only weapon you need as a civilian is a good handgun to conceal carry so you can defend yourself in a situation of temporary danger. For anything else (defending country from kebab during civil unrest etc.) you will need an organised paramilitary force that can act with cohesion, have logistics etc. This is a political question not ''which wepon to choose?'' one. An automatic weapon won't save you as an individual any more than a handgun. If it's not a hit and run terrorist attak but something more organized, you'll just get stormed by a mob or outgunned by Syrians who know how to use it better than you. Also, good luck.

Keep an eye out for Dat Armor if you can, bone up on making your own makeshift armor from available materials, like phonebooks and stuff like heavy plastic from buckets (cut into plates/scales, laced together like Lamellar or Lorica).

It wouldn't be great, but it would be better than nothing.

You might also just plain look into getting relatively resilient but innocuous looking historical stuff. Not like, plate armor, but maybe something like a jack of plates/brigandine deal. (So basically a ghetto plate carrier.)

It would be pretty effective against screwheads who tried to shank you or hit you with a bat, and it would be at least slightly effective against handgun rounds, particularly hollow point.

If you were mostly expecting to deal with "Fuckers with knives and machetes" Shark Mail would be really good.
