How often were M48's actually used in the former-yugo countries during their various conflicts after the wall fell?
>>

Not often they had AKs and SKS

Just got the cosmoline off this little baby.

Vaguely related, what is the current least respected surplus rifle that is still cheap as shit and doesn't fire a snowflake round? I'd prefer semi auto but I'll look into whatever long as it's less than what the old meme guns go for now. I want to get in on the ground floor.

I have an AG42b that I recently acquired, but I've been told most commercial loads are a no-no... What do I do for ammo for this thing? I kinda wanted a historic BR that wouldnt break the bank too bad, but it appears ammo is a big problem with this gun
>>
This is probably the best thread to ask. How unique is it to acquire a type 56 Chinese sks made pre Vietnam era with Albanian trench art? I ordered one of those sks' from jgsales and was expecting a beat up red stock on mine. I ended up with a beech wood stocked type 56 with names carved in on the left, and some names picked into the wood with the tip of a blade on the right.
>>
>>29542916
Sell it, get a hakim. Basically an ag42 that's capable of firing 8mm mauser of most types due to the adjustable gas system.
>>
what are some neat cold war era optics that arent retardedly expensive.
I want something strange looking to mount on my PTR other than a qwik point (which is in the mail already).

Look for Egyptian surplus 8mm, it was made for the hakim so it should be mild enough for your gun, I'm no expert so I'd research this first.

Pic related, look for the purple around a berdan primer and the squiggles

They're pretty much a gun you have to reload for. I know some get away with shooting PPU though. Just be sure you use European made brass. The American made brass uses a slightly smaller diameter case heads. Ljungmans are already known to rip off the case heads even with proper ammo.

>>
>>29546496
The originals were in what we now call 7.65 Argentine. They pretty much converted those all to 7.92 (AKA 8mm Mauser) though. You aren't going to find one in their original chambering.

Rifle is in good condition, but there's an "A" carved in a discrete place behind the receiver.

>>29538173
Don't have any sources but I've read posts where people claim that they were used in marksmen roles with scopes. But that's about it. I can't find much evidence without really digging far into it. I'm sure you could find something, but this was in the 90's. If you were using something not an AK, it was probably an SKS (despite a lot of them being in good condition imported).

Ah, it's a 31st series made by Toyo Kogyo. Fun fact, Toyo Kogyo changed their company name to the brand name of the car they produced in the 70s or 80s: Mazda. The bayonet was either made by Kokura or Tokyo arsenal. They both used the same symbol.

Yeah, found out it was the Toyo Kogyo, but the symbol for series was kinda hard to tell, the marking looked kinda smudged. Whats the marking under the chrysanthemum mean? As well as the small marking right after the manufacture mark?
>>
>>29552566
>Whats the marking under the chrysanthemum mean?
It says, 9, 9 Type.

>As well as the small marking right after the manufacture mark?

The symbol to the left of the serial number is the series mark. The ones to the right is the symbol for Kokura arsenal and Toyo Kogyo. Toyo Kogyo was subcontracted by Kokura arsenal.
>>
>>29552587
I was referencing the really small one to the right of the manufacture mark, seems like it good be a proof mark or something couldn't find anything about it on the internet.

What ammo do you shoot for yours? I don't reload at all so I guess ill be looking at 1.50 per round ammo.

Do you mean a Turkish in 7.65 or just any Mauser in 7.65?
>>
>>29559955
Just the original Turkish Mausers were in 7.65. Germany sent them many more in 8mm during WWI and after the war the Turks standardized on that caliber. Pretty much any left in their original chambering was captured and brought back as a trophy making them rare. Original Turk Mausers are actually one of the hardest to find WWI guns, ironically.
