ok here's a shopping list
First of all get yourself a decent amount of detcord and some blasting caps together with those firecrackers that you ignite by pulling a string and some flashpowder.
Then fill the crimp end of the cap halfway up with blasting powder.
Jam one of the firecrackers in there and tape it shut.
Then attatch the detcord with tape to the cap and proceed to make a perimeter around your camp stringing the detcord about shin high.

Make several small sections to ensure that everything doesn't blow at the same time if there's several attackers approaching from different directions.
Attatch the string from the firecracker to a tree at one end so it pulls when someone walks into the detcord.

Voila! an exploding tripwire for all your camping security needs!

Also there's bite alarms for fishing that uses crimped blanks for .22lr.
Those can be used with the same setup just crimp the blasting cap on the .22 blank round and attatch it to the fishing alarm.
When something pulls the string it fires off the .22 detonating the cap and cord.

Not only is it cheap but it will also wake up up with a start and the assailant will be writhing on the ground with quite bad wounds to the legs.

The detcord tricks i learned from the army here in Sweden, mostly we were taught to line ditches with the stuff.
Find a good strech of road for an ambush fill the ditches with detcord and when the enemy comes you fire on them so they take cover in the ditch and then you detonate the cord... bastard tactics but hey i woldn't want to be on the recieving end.

Rule one when it comes to /k/amping always bring a shovel and lye.

How will they see you at night though? If you don't keep a fire going and keep lights off, they'd be hard pressed finding you. Maybe if they followed you during the day, but even then they're going to need a flashlight themselves, which you'll see when you wake from hearing them going through the brush.

In general though you don't have to worry about this kind of thing, I've never encountered somebody on my property at night. I usually just bring an old .22 revolver and my H&R Topper for hunting more than anything. God I'm a fudd when I camp...

If paranoid a campsite can be secured with 100 lbs test fishing line and a black marker for camo. A spool weighs very little and a few wraps around a small area works well. Not just a trip wire but at neck and waist level too. Great place for hooks, cans, bells and party favors of your choosing.
