CG artist here, I make guns for movies and video games.
My biggest problem is getting my hands on good reference material, including the internal parts of guns. Do you guy know of any good places to find detailed reference material? (the more detailed, the better)
I live in a European country where guns are illegal (which sucks), so I can't just go out and buy stuff either.
Also, post your favorite gun that you'd like to see in movies / videos game, but rarely (or never) see.

For detailed measurements you probably need to cross reference with wikipedia or maybe there are better sources.
Most guns that were in Deadfall Adventures
Colt cap and ball revolvers. Only one to pull off the cylinder change reload that i know of was Darkest of Days. Crappy game mechanics but great idea

thanks, yeah I know of world of guns, it's great for getting to know how all the parts are assembled, but to recreate a weapon as accurately as possible, I'd need measurements, and wikipedia doesn't have much (mostly just weapon length, weight and barrel length)

yeah that's what I've been doing, but it hurts me deep down inside, knowing it's not precisely accurate.

I screencapped these from edrawings. They are isometric, so you can draw over them and get good proportions, very accurate proportions once you start using measurements.
I'll upload the edrawings to mega. I have 2 AR15s and a 1911.

The edrawings are easy and convenient, but they come in a free version of the software so you can't get autistic with the tools. I don't remember being able to measure shit. Also run them through your anti virus because fuck trusting me
