Short strings keep the barrel cool. And I do multiple strings on the same target sometimes. Heres 6 shots of my own handloaded ammo thats around .7MOA. My normal shooting is around 0.7-0.8 MOA with this rifle. Yesterday was just a really good day. Two groups that small.

First off, youre gonna have to look up your own state laws. I only know for sure NM laws on coyote hunting. Generally speaking though, they are not furbrearing or game animals.

What do you want to know? Youre gonna need calls, some land with coyotes to hunt on and patience. Lots of patience and gas. Gotta do lots of scouting to find good call locations, to know where coyotes are to begin with, learn some basic coyote habits and instincts. You gotta outsmart them which isnt always as easy as it sounds.

Start googling man, but at a bare minimum you need a rifle, a handcall of some fashion and gas money.

Yeah, they're considered pests in NC so they're fair game except in 5 counties, none of which I reside in. The thing is I have no clue where any coyotes are lmao. I live around woods (obviously NC), but I'm not sure where I should start looking. I'm getting interested because hunting is clearly more challenging than just slaying some paper at the range. I've got everything but the handcall.

Get a handcall. Is there lots of public land in your state? If not start talking to landowners both for permission to hunt on their land and to hear about coyotes presence.

Once you know an area you can hunt, go spend time there, look for coyote tracks, scat, listen for them in the mornings and evenings. Scouting is important, something I need to do more of myself. You will spend alot in gas but getting familiar with the areas you want to hunt is important. No sense in calling for coyotes in an area where there are none.

Start doing some googling. Later Ill see if I can find some sites that contain good info about coyotes. You got some learning to do.

I just broke my Wheeler Precision 5/64 bit. Fuck this gay earth.

Even worse my rail now has a little head of a bolt sticking out of it. Once I get my new bit in I'm going to remove it entirely, the other 4 bolts clamping it down seem to be plenty.

I must have cross threaded that shit or something. Because I noticed one of the small ones was loose, so I removed it, put loctite on it, and went to reinstall it. Then the bit snapped halfway. I dunno what happened. Lesson learned I guess.

Responding to my own post:

>In 1965, McDonald's Corporation went public. Common shares were offered at $22.50 per share. By the end of the first day's trading, the price had risen to $30. A block of 100 shares purchased for $2,250 in 1965 was worth, after 12 stock splits (increasing the number of shares to 74,360), over $5.7 million as of year-end market close on December 31, 2010.

dont listen to them. I used the rustoleum camo spray paint and you can see how it wears. even if you cerakote it, it will still wear down(at a slower rate). your'e better off getting a part that was originally parkerized in black
>>
>>29480333

I also used brake cleaner on mine before painting. the wear is just from it rubbing against things. not from it not being able to bond to the surface
>>

Private sales aren't legal in my state IIRC.

Parents are anti-gun, and I don't have any tools to build from an 80%.
>>
>>29480751
If it's at a gun ahow, you still need to be 21. I'm the guy who bought the FDE upper and lower from PSA mentioned in this thread. I bought it at a gun show, but he wouldn't sell it to me because I wasn't 21. It was already drilled, so he couldn't sell it because it could technically still be made into a pistol. My friend got it for me. So, >>29480527 should totally get an 80% or have a bro buy it. Surely someone he knows can. I kind of wish I got an 80% so it wouldn't be serialized, hindsight and whatnot.

Is there some sort of problem with VZ's that I'm not aware of? From what I've seen VZ58's are better than AK's, and VZ2008's compare fine to AK's.

>From what I've seen VZ58's are better than AK's
They're really not, not that that keeps its proponents from wanking loudly about supposed superiority. Unsurprisingly, these people tend to be poorfags who got their first scary babykiller rifle from PSA when they were $399. After all is said and done, it's a 7.62x39 rifle with suboptimal furniture, a limited aftermarket, and manages to be about 3-4 MOA.
>and VZ2008's compare fine to AK's.
Century ones, sure, and even then they're lacking in ways compared to a WASR, like the barrel and FCG.

It's not that they're bad rifles, there's just no real reason to get one unless that's the only option for a practical 7.62x39, you just like them, or you want to be a snowflake.
>>
>>29482505
Yeah this is pretty accurate. And this is speaking as someone whos first rifle was exactly that. You should really never be paying more than the 400 for the century special deal they were offering because they really arent great deals past that.

Fun little rifles that still work hard but trying to do anything with them other than fixing the buttstock or muzzle break is really just polishing a turd.

Fair enough. For now my VZ will do, I enjoyed shooting it today and it's a fun little rifle.

Once I'm out of commie MD (technically I live in MD for the tuition discount, but I have a house in WV with a friend) I will certainly get an AK.

>>29482578
Gotcha.
>>
>>29482458
>From what I've seen VZ58's are better than AK's

The only thing objectively better about them is the safety and BHO, and maybe the lightweight mags. It's not a bad rifle, but it's dated, the carried becomes easily obstructed by debris and the design received no meaningful standardized improvements over its lifespan.
The "vz58 is what the AK dreams to be" meme I've seen perpetuated mostly by people who couldn't own a decent AK (or really any good carbine) for some reason. First Czechs in the 2004-201* interim when it was basically the only readily available intermediate riflle on the market, then Canadians ("It's not like I would have bought an AK if I could!"), then US hipsters.
>>
>>29482550
Again, not saying you got a bad rifle or that you shouldn't/can't have fun with it. It's just not a great rifle, and it's actually rather lacking compared to most AKs out there. I'd take one any day over a shitheap like the RAS-47. Hell, I'd probably take one over a C-39v2.
>>
>>29482733
Well I didn't buy it with intentions of feeling superior, so knowing AK's are better doesn't upset me; I got it just as a gun to have fun with. I was just saying what I heard before. I'd definitely still love to have an AK, and will do so once I'm out of college.

Quick story time. Couple of years ago I picked up an AIM NiB v2 BCG. Didn't have any issues with it for a long time, though I don't go shooting anywhere near as often as I'd like. So I'm at the range a few months ago and the tip of my firing pin breaks. Not a big deal, I have a spare. But when I went to put it in, it would not fit inside the bolt. I figured my spare pin must be out of spec. So I wen't a bought another one. Still wouldn't fit. Then I called AIM and told them my story and they (after having to reminding them about their lifetime warranty) said to send it in. Fast forward a bit and my BCG come back with a shiny new bolt. I take it to the range to test it out and I'm now having issues extracting. The extractor looks like its too tight, so I replace it with a spare (spare part actually fit this time) and proceeded to have no issues for another hundred rounds or so. Now it's not cycling all the way back and it won't pick up a round unless I do it manually. So today I went to the range with a buddy and his AR. I put my upper on his lower to rule out any issues there, and had the same failure to feed problem. Then I swapped BCGs and low and behold my AR now functions flawlessly. In an effort to give the AIM BCG a fighting chance I then slapped it in his AR and it functions fine for about four rounds then double feeds, fails to eject, then simply won't feed unless done manually. Moral of the story? Stay away from AIM BCGs.

TLDR; AIM sucks.

Had a good time with all the stuff leading up to the field battle, but I didn't do any modules so there's not much to speak of there.
I did take out both of a PC's legs though, which was amazing.
In the field battle I was using a huge and heavy greatsword wackybat and managed to use it to block an attack from the left, then right, then behind my back in a 2v1 fight, then tripped backwards and didn't fall, and was beaten to death shortly after.
It was ~40-50 PCs vs ~30 monsters/ NPCs, which is the biggest NPC force I've fought with so far.
I almost killed their war drummer, and my final death of the weekend was to a spear in my throat.
Also I think a cute girl likes me, so that's nice.

Depends what your budget is. Really cheap/poor? Then Wolf for plinking is good. I personally stock pile PMC bronze (just bought 3k rounds) and use Hornday Tap for HD.

Federal is good but the green tip is too expensive to use for plinking and over-penetrates too much for HD. Also not particularity accurate.

It was actually a great lead up to the field battle at the next event.
>big bad named misatio kidnapped our families
>If we don't do his bidding he'll kill them, then us
>Wants more minions/ followers/ whatever
>We try to pull 2 or 3 player gypsies, end up with 5
>They take us back to their cabin (And secretly let some other PC's know they think this is sketchy)
>We talk for a minute, then tell them our true purpose
>Quick CQC fight that we win
>Make sure they're stable so they won't die on us
>One has quick healing and runs off screaming for help
>I chase after her, KO her, and bring her back and lock the door
>Reinforcements arrive, bust down the door and incapacitate us
>throw us off the porch
>Girl I KO'd kills me and someone else
>they roll me into a ditch
>go Out of play and go back to monstertown
At the next event's field battle I had a very intimate and intense staredown as a gypsy with a gypsy that ended in him slashing my throat and burning my corpse.

I don't really know it was just what I had in mind. I figured if I was going to have a pistol caliber carbine that I might as well get the larger caliber one since I am going to have a buttstock. Don't really want 300 blk because of ammo price/availability. If anything I guess 9mm would be the only other option but I didn't really want to fiddle with having to seek out subsonic ammo.

Scrub pants are the best. Sweat pants with a draw string and no elastic or logos and shit. The simpler the cut and design the better.

Natural earthy colors like brown and green and blue and stuff like that are the best colors. Go for subdued. After that, a tabard or surcoat literally makes you look twice as good. If you have a sewing machine and a little know how you can make a tabard super easily.
>>

The TAP line is their self defense series of ammo. Either their 55gr or 75gr would be ideal, unless you purposely planned on shooting through walls for some off reason in which case 62gr would work.

Federal XM193 all the way. IMI M193 is supposed to be good as well, if not better. I dunno if I'd trust Wolf Gold. Its supposed to be Taiwan surplus, but who knows just how it was stored. and seeing as its literally around the same prices as new production Federal and IMI M193, id say get new pro. Oh and avoid Samson and Independence brand M193, only get the IMI marked cardboard cases/boxes

greentip is crap unless you have a 20" barrel, then its only 3/4 crap.

Ive heard TAP is supposed to be good, and that TAP2 or someshit is supposed to be even better. However, the shits almost $1 a round.

Id much rather use m193 in both SD and plinking. It gives experience and recoil muscle memory.

Secret to my 5shot submoa grouping is shooting single shot with empty mag with two minutes cool time. If i shot from mag and habe say 30 sec cool time i manage around moa.

Longer shooting lane cleared soon i think.

3 shot group submoa is at good teir any gun owner should be able to shoot submoa to be considered "good shot" it isnt impressive but if gun's barrel can shoot 10 shot submoa now thats good.

So chill it off now? Have you never worked with threaded parts and the like before?

The pin is made of a different metal than your gasblock.

What does heat make metals do? That's right, expand.

Now what does cold temperature do to those same metals? That's right, shrink.

And what does a softer metal like aluminum do faster than a harder metal like steel? That's right, change form based on temperature.

When you're restricted to 200 yard shooting ranges it seems silly to go any bigger.
Looking at land at the moment, criteria being that it needs to have an 800 yard stretch worthy of target shooting.
And the gun is just a... very expensive range toy, really. Horribly impractical.

It's a PVS-14 nightvision monocle mounted behind a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 MRAD.

I'm on my first build, so could you guys help me out with something? I'm torn between 5.56 and 6.5 Grendel. I already have a long range rifle, and I would have to get a bunch of special snowflake parts to accommodate the round. How does the ballistic advantages stack up to the economical and logistical factors of buying and getting parts for the Grendel? Is it worth it?

Do you guys think this would look better with black furniture?

2moa is average for a decently built AK from a bench...

Agreed. It took me a while to get shooting fast with it. Especially considering my AR has a 3.5 pound single stage trigger.

Pretty shit, aside from sleeping in till noon. I'm buried in homework and just moved all my shit into a storage unit pending location of a new official domicile, so I can't look at or shoot my guns because they are buried. Hell I can't even post pictures of them at the moment because I accidentally stored the flash drives I keep the pics on. Plus I'm getting sick. I fucking hate life right now.
