I think I'd raise my hands in the air and do everything they ask in slow mo and hope i don't get shot regardless.

Fucking good. He failed to identify someone he apparently knows by sight, straight up mag-dumped the car because he could, screamed at another officer to stop trying to assist the undercover he failed to identify before magdumping, then completely lost his composure upon realize what an incredible fuck up he is. Dude was never reasonably able to serve.

The best was when Jacob said "no" when Officer Fucktard McTriggerHappy asked if he was okay. It was like he really wasn't surprised who lit him up or that that officer would ask such a stupid question.

How are cops such emotional messes? These people walk around armed with the power of the law behind them.
You can't be so excitable and emotional in that scenario, every CC citizen is taught that. No wonder we have the problems with cops that we do. Middle intelligence emotionally jacked people propelled by legal authority.

Sure you can, but you can view the OP's video for the result. Thus ... the point ... you're trying so hard to miss.
Responsibility, managing yourself, emotions, and actions. Kinda comes with the scenario, duh. If a CC citizen had done this, there would be one hell of a shit-storm about how he failed his responsibility.
>>
>>29469740
>If a ______ had done this
You don't have the rights an LEO does.

I fucking hate cops like this. They make us all look bad by putting their adrenaline addiction over their community. Innocent people die in the process.
>>
>>29469753
That is increasingly a very nasty problem. Soldiers in combat have ROE and the UCMJ breathing down their necks. Cops these days practically have a license to kill. You can't even sue them -- just their department.

This isn't good, folks.
>>
>>29469753
>You don't have the rights an LEO does.
Badges don't grant extra rights.
>>
>>29469773

What would you do if you got a call of someone pointing a gun at people, got to the scene, had the guy come out at gunpoint, told him not to put his hands behind his back, and then he reached for the back of his waistband?
>>
>>29469753
Quit trolling. If not, then at least try to make more sense.
I guess you got me, because I'm replying. It wasn't an analogy, it was a comparison of two partially overlapping but dissimilar examples. The difference is the point, silly. And yes, my point is also that LEOs are granted illegitimate 'rights' and protections.
>>
>>29469780

>You can't even sue them -- just their department.
That's only true if they were acting within their department policy.
>>
>>29469791
I would not default so heavily to putting my complete well-being so far ahead of every other criteria in the scenario. Failing that, I'd have a different job.

The guy just reached to his rear waistband after you telling him not to.
What do you do?
>>
>>29469791

He was unarmed, visibly, and crawling towards police, as ordered, while sobbing and begging for his life. He was pulling his shorts up as he was crawling towards them.

-Is he incapacitated at all? As in: what position is he in?

See all these details that matter? I'm not gonna shoot him until I know I have a necessity to, at least a very good reason. To discard those details is to default into massively prioritizing your own well-being over everything else, and gunning him down.
I could put a call in to your local law enforcement that Big Bird is in your house ass-raping your mother. Doesn't mean it's really happening. Probably shouldn't run in and gun down anyone in a sesame street costume.

>>I already said yes. Nice reading comprehension.
You're either contentious or pedantic. Either way you're not doing yourself any favors. To give the minute attention youcrave to what you said: You said (3 posts ago, that I couldn't previously care about enough to scroll back to) that I had him come out at gun point. Not how the situation had evolved since then. You know, time happening, other actions developing ... just like you described.

If there is no gun visible, my first inclination would be to hesitate pulling the trigger on him. Until I saw a weapon. I would prepare to fire though.
Also, that's retarded if he's standing. I'd command him into a prone or kneeling position with hands visible. Then I'd cuff and search him while covered by a partner. Any failure to comply on his part would also result in me preparing to fire and looking for a weapon to be brandished.

>>If your position is that you're not going to shoot until you see a gun, you're wrong.
Great support for your opinion, which you've incorrectly implied to come from me. That's what happens when you over-simplify to justify what you desperately need to.

If your position is to shoot citizens that are not a confirmed threat, you're wrong. In fact, the legal precedent is on my side on this one. It's only been skewed in the last few decades when it comes to LEOs, which ... is the point .. of this thread ...
>>
>>29468215
How has a single person not asked WHY the cop fired?

Should the undercover officer have complied and then dealt with the idiot who didn't attend the briefing later?

Clearly there's something wrong when you're undercover and you have one of your own pointing a gun at you, perhaps you could infer that you haven't been recognized?
>>
>>29468215

What I recall:

>Vet pushes cop
>Vet returns to car, gets mini-14
>Cop/Vet exchange fire, with vet wounding cop in arm/leg and getting shot in stomach
>Vet turns to leave
>Cop starts shooting at him again
>Vet turns around and systematically works the cops arms/legs bc of body armor
>Cop keeps trying to hide behind car
>Eventually shot 5-6 times in all his extremities and can't move anymore, Vet finishes him off with one headshot
>Vet caught, tried, executed

It certainly seems that way from the audio, but that's also all we have to go on. For all we know he might have done something that looked shady as fuck to cause their reaction, or it might just be another case of overly jumpy trigger happy cops. We can't see inside at the crucial moments of the cop opening the door, seeing the gun presumably in a holster, and then opening fire, so it's damn hard to say definitively which it is.

Know what? Fuck you. Fuck you and all you edgy little faggots saying this about the cops right now. I'm not a huge fan either, but you are doing the exact same thing you are claiming they do.

You are dehumanizing them. You think that they can just kill civilians with no remorse? They can't. You're in the mindset you accuse them of, getting all mad that they show remorse and being glad one of them's been shot or whatever, like a bunch of the other faggots.

Assume some human decency from people and stop with the "Fuk da polise!!!1!!" bullshit. He shot someone that didn't need to be shot. It would have been justified were it not a cop, because he had a fucking gun and they had no clue, but someone was possibly killed by his hand that didn't have to be. I'm sure he would have reacted just the same if he shot a little kid or an innocent bystander. Most human beings have a moral compass and don't enjoy hurting people that weren't threatening them.

Before you try and criticize the moral compass and very humanity of another person, take a good hard look at what you're doing first.

Yes it is. It's sad it didn't hit immediately, but it absolutely is. Where does it start? He's being tried for his crimes, and will likely go to prison. It's a shame it wasn't immediate, but it is a step forward on police accountability. People are pissed with these sorts of things and he's being tried in a court of his peers. That's all we can ask for, short of him being executed by a vigilante or some shit.

So that the PD closed the inquiry into the Walter Scott shooting in less than a day is evidence of a working system? That timeframe means Slager's word and account is all that is needed to clear a cop for shooting a civilian.

Essentially, while civilians can have their lives ruined at the mere whim of a cop or prosecutor's word, the word of a cop is taken as gospel truth.

All hail the system.

Dude, fuck off. If all it takes to close it is his words, all it takes to open it back up is a sketchy cell-phone video and some public outrage, and now he's been indicted by a Grand Jury and will have his day in court in October.

This is a step in the right direction. Through action of the people, we have forced them to hold him accountable in the death of an civilian who did not have to die. You can't root out corruption all in one day, there isn't a magic button. The point is, that department is hopefully going to think twice about trying to cheat the system again, and if they don't we'll punish them for it again.

All we can hope is for progress, to make things better. What would you have us do, oh dour one? What's your fucking solution? Pouting about it and posting angrily on the internet about how the system is broke? Dragging cops out in the street and shooting them on any sign of foul play? And this completely ignores the fact that these days, one angry black family and some shitty cell phone video can also ruin an innocent cop's life, too. There should be a huge difference between a cop's words, and conclusive video evidence. But not in the world of police criminality, apparently.

I'd love to see the Chinese police system in play. Busted for any minor crime? Lengthy prison sentence. Busted for any crime, major or minor against the state? Immediate death sentence. Busted for any crime of violence against a citizen? Immediate death sentence.

Could you imagine how quickly police forces nationwide would clean up their acts? Speeding gets you 10 years, hard labor. That fat bastard who pepper sprayed those college kids in Cali *then* had the balls to claim his assault triggered PTSD gets a Mak to the back of the head.

Shit would fix itself very, very quickly.

Yeah that's fucked. I remember a friends father was a cop and talked a guy down from a death by cop scenario, its just a different set of ideals I guess.

I can't explain how different it is here in NZ. I suppose we have less of a gun culture and no roodypoos with racial divide etc so maybe they have less to worry about in terms of work safety.

Our cops have fucked up a few times over the years don't get me wrong. I remember one time they shot at an armed offender and missed and the bullet flew ages and hit and killed a bystander. But thats really rare. They don't carry guns etc.

I dunno I remember a story of a parent who called the police in the states when his/her kid was having a scitzo episode and the police arrived and shot the teenager/young man. So fucked.

It's sort of like a fraternity or a clique. If you speak up about something, be prepared for losing all friends and respect in your department, and possible retribution which is why it's hard for corruptness to be investigated
>>
>>29471535
It's an oversight thing.

In the US, criminal cases are prosecuted by the local government.

Prosecutors are directly elected (nobody votes in those elections) and everyone else (judges, district attorney) owes their jobs to the local political machine.

The Police Department has a union, and is part of that political machine.

As a result, the police department is able to exert considerable political leverage in criminal investigations and prosecutions involving the police.

So generally, most police in the US have no criminal liability to anyone other than themselves.

I appreciate it, it's not meant to be an edgy statement at all. The Chicoms still have issues with their police, which is why you hear about another one getting zapped every few weeks (well, you do if you follow the news.) Unless there's some major change in how policing is treated as an institution, it's eventually going to boil into vigilantism and open violence, which serves nobody.

of course they did.

They can execute you in the streets because they feel like it. All they have to do is say they THOUGH you had a gun and they will not only walk but also be back on the job to do it again if not get promoted for it.

If that was just some random meth head they would not only have not aided him, they would have handcuffed him face down and let him drown in his own blood while paramedics took 5-15 minutes to arrive on scene because that is the standard operating procedure and dead men dont sue.

The only reason he survived is that he is an agent of the state. That is also the only reason the cop who shot him felt bad at all.

On top of it all the cop who got shot gets millions of dollars now for literally doing what he signed up to do. Paid for by you and me.

Most people in Europe and NZ/Aus see you gun enthusiast guys as crazy. The 2nd amendment is perceived as an outdated idea that is used by gun nuts to keep these weapons of death for their hobby despite knowing they cause deaths etc.

It is of course put into a different perspective when its explained how little trust for the state and federal police the average joe has, as well as the lack of social cohesion among the different races.

The reality of most firearm deaths being roodypoos shooting one another on the street and not assault rifle related at all isn't very widely known.

This is true. I was a deputy in Lexington Co, SC, for 8 years, and left the department as a corporal. I reported some suspicions about our sheriff, Jim Metts, was helping illegals after the file to one of my cases was lost. Reported it to my LT, who said "Don't bring it up again." After that, I started having issues with getting court time assigned, and when on patrol I had a felony stop where I could *NOT* get backup. I knew for a goddamned fact that there were two other deputies within a mile of me, and I didn't get my second man until an off-duty SCHP officer rolled by, saw me out with my weapon drawn, and came up to assist. I resigned a month later and got picked up by SCHP as a LCpl.

Two years later, Metts gets busted for helping illegals. Gee, who would have thought.

I think that there needs to be a big effort on the part of gun owners sharing the statistics regarding gun crime.

Letting themselves become polarized and joining the NRA and yelling about the liberal statist bootlickers wanting to take away guns is not effective, it has the reverse effect because the average non gun owner shuts off and writes you off as a nutter.

Comparing the stats of different types of firearms used in crime (pistols, hunting rifles, shotguns, military style semi automatics etc) the different groups using the firearms, where they are being used and for what kind of crime - that last one is really important.

https://youtu.be/yNQebj7_UX4?t=348

That particular stat was really revealing to me as someone who was interested in the argument.

If the statistics back it I can completely understand a movement aimed around reducing the amount of handguns on the street if indeed they are being used in a massive share of gun crime and I can completely understand trying to regulate them via background checks etc.

What I can't understand is the emotional kneejerk attraction that people have to try to ban assault rifles if they are statistically a tiny part of the problem. There must be many other things (that don't provide the safety net that the 2nd amendment does) that take lives of burgers everyday that could be addressed before you get to the point on the list where assault rifles are. One I hear touted a lot is pool safety.

Interesting shit.

>Oh there is, but the thing is most liberal gun grabber deal in emotion, not logic so facts and statistics are lost on them

I think most people are idealistic and liberal at some stage in their life, mostly when they are young and still learning about the world. Sure there are plenty of older ones but my point is most people are liberal thinkers when they are young.

Now on the face of it without the stats being explained to them these liberal idealists won't see any harm done in getting these nasty assault rifles out of the hands of the average joe.

I don't think its that they are stupid or massively driven by emotion etc I think it comes down to a couple of things.

1 - They don't value your hobby when they balance it against the perceived damage nutters do with the tools of that hobby

2. They don't believe the 2nd amendment is an important or relevant justification for these tools of carnage being potentially in the hands of a nutter.

I disagree that you gun lads are doing enough to communicate the statistical inconsistencies with targeting assault rifles for banishment. I also don't think that there is enough communication about the importance of the 2nd amendment. This is a hard sell to a (not to talk down to them) naive idealist who can't imagine a government turning against the will of the people it governs. That said by the general sentiment regarding cops in this thread it seems like such a situation isn't outside of the realms of possibility.

I don't know if I'm saying the bleeding obvious here but this is new to me. Anyway, there is always more that can be done regarding awareness of 1 and 2.

Well obviously, but since you can't get rid of retards getting their hands on guns without regulating guns in some way it seems to be a decision to make.

Do you continue having police be so on edge that they apparently shoot people reaching into their glove-boxes for their ID? Is this acceptable that the cop has to worry about getting shot so much that they have that much of an itchy trigger finger?

The alternative of course is saying 'this is a gun issue by proxy due to retards behaving improperly with them' and then taking action based on that conclusion.

Inaction or action, and how do you make the action not misguided gun stealing?

When the value of the 2nd amendment is explained, often times gun owners will just be written off as right wing extremists who fantasize about a new civil war and taking down a tyrannical government
What they don't realize is that the 2nd amendment protects all of the other ones, and if they get rid of the second amendment, they can get rid of the others as well like free speech and the right to be secure in one's private property

The 2nd amendment is about reminding the government not to tread on its people, and that the government should fear the people, and not vice versa.

Everyone seems to forget they have the best body armor taxpayer money can buy strapped to them and protecting all of their vital areas besides the 3x5" spot above their eyeballs, yet they pull that trigger because of a "thought" of mal-intent.

Cops should be reduced back to 6-shooters and a riot shotgun in the car, and to ride-along duty for 2 years before being fielded by themselves.

Where the fuck are you seeing this? 0:13, Scott and Slager come into frame, Scott is pushing off away from what looks like a struggle. The Taser is in motion (you know it's the fucking Taser because of the yellow striping, visible at 0:14) and tumbling behind Slager. Slager begins his draw and begins firing at 0:15, discharges nine rounds, the last of which is in 0:19. At 0:20, Slager looks back, observes the Taser, and turns back to Scott. At 1:06, Slager retrieves the Taser. He re-enters the frame at 1:17, and the Taser is in hand. At 1:29-1:30, Slager drops the Taser behind Scott.

But, really, none of that matters because the autopsy report showed that when the body was brought in, Scott still had a probe in him. How could Scott have shot Slager with his own Taser, when Slager had already ineffectively deployed the Taser on Scott?

Facts, how do they work?
>>
>>29472343
>I wonder if Slager will get put into the general population
law enforcement and anyone who works for the state gets stuck into the special pod where they stick pedos, mentally ill, etc. Then, if by some misfortune they couldn't buy off the jury or the judge doesn't/can't favor them due to publicity, then they take the deal and get sent to a minimum security out-of-state "prison" which is actually a vacation resort with a barbed wired fence, and released a year or two later on parole for "good behavior"

the system is fucked. IE go look up the senator/representative that got caught with an 8-ball of coke in DC. Know what he got? 6 months Administrative Probation with Adj withheld (state drops charges and forgets it ever happened), and a public apology letter to be printed in the newspaper.
Know what a normal person would of got? at the minimum, 3-5 years of felony probation, only after getting taken to jail to wait 3-4 months for their court date and a $50k bond set.

I mean, you make a good point about the whole dehumanizing thing, but this is one of the things that irks me. Putting on a badge doesn't give you extra rights. People act retarded on both sides of the fence about this topic, but a cop shouldn't be so quick to shoot. Remorse after the fact is besides the point.

Ain't that the goddamned truth. You an officer too?

this x1000

Police are 'public servants'. People who consider themselves "educated" see this as derogatory, because that is what the system has brainwashed them to think, however that label is actually what they are. They are supposed "To protect, and serve", yet they seem to add the words "the state" and "themselves" in their own minds.

No, just a dissapointed civilian. BCSD is pretty decent from what I can tell. Plenty of good-ol' boy stuff, but I've never ever seen them pull anyone for anything other than a felony stop. Generally Mayberry-esq in their demeanor. Hell, Sheriff DeWitt didn't even seem like a terribly ill-willed person, just a drunk redneck who rolled the dice one too many times.

Video clearly shows the prongs are in Slager, not in scott
Not sure what autopsy report you're talking about.

Unfortunately that is not the case legally and it has been that way for decades. Cops have been given all kinds of legal privileges by courts at all levels that none of us civilians have. These pervasive privileges apply on the street, in the interrogation room, and beyond.

They must teach this in police academy.

The Supreme Court has ruled police exist to enforce laws and keep order

They have no obligation to "protect"

On one end of the wire is the cartridge, we can see that on the ground dragging behind scott

and on the other we know there are prongs, we can see them attached one way or another on slager

We can also see on the video that it was scott who had control of the tazer, and evidently fired it at slager.

Here's a different screen grab, a few frames before. You can clearly see a probe wire hanging limp to Slager's left, down to the detached cartridge.

>taser cartridge is a rock
>>
>>29472768
Theres 2 wires to 2 prongs, so both prongs are in the cops chest area, one wire goes around scotts leg & back to the cartridge, the other goes down.
>>
>>29472610
>>29472768
And here it is in motion. As Scott takes off, the line goes tight and the cartridge starts moving. It's almost as if the wire is, you know, wrapped around Slager's arm and there's a prong in Scott's leg. The cartridge AND the Taser are both behind Slager at this point. The ONLY way the cartridge would move is if one of those prongs is in Scott.
>>
>>29472697
>We can also see on the video that it was scott who had control of the tazer

Where in the video would that be?
>>
>>29472816
But again, all of this is moot. The Taser was tested for Scott's DNA. None was found. If Scott had control of the Taser and deployed it, it'd have his DNA on it.

>A SLED lab found DNA from two people on the taser and could not rule out that Walter Scott was one of those people.
?

>>29472816
> It's almost as if the wire is, you know, wrapped around Slager's arm and there's a prong in Scott's leg.
Then it wouldn't be SCOTTS LEG pulling the cartridge, it would be pulled by slager.
But it isn't, since its only the wire wrapped around his leg, not the prongs.
>>
>>29472834

AND just another thing? Slager himself never says he was Tased or that Scott attempted to Tase him, just that Scott had gained control of the Taser (which was again debunked by the fact that the damn thing didn't have his DNA on it.) You'd think that if Slager had prongs in him, or his uniform, that he'd have reported it.

Hey retard

>the guy was groing weed on the property we were renting
>They told us to calm down then went and smoked weed with him

>He came to my front door and had to be scared off with a gun
>I gave them a plate and vehicle description
>He left while yelling I shouldn't have let him know where I live

The bootlicking is real

Your article doesn't say this
>>
>>29473007
So then why didn't Slager himself say it?
>>
>>29473024
He does say that scott had control of it
which is why he shot
>>
>>29472913
Oh, I misread it as they told her to go smoke weed with him.

Okay, yeah, that's fucked, fuck them. You gave them the stuff and they didn't do shit, you're right.
>>
>>29473035
>video shows Scott didn't have it
>DNA is inconclusive

Add perjury to the list of charges.
>>
>>29473035
He claimed Scott had control of it. He never said that he was shot with it. If he was Tased, even ineffectively, then why didn't Slager say so?

Yeah, there were actually three pairs of officers that came out over the weed thing. I finally demanded their names and badge numbers and asked if they knew the laws reguarding recording public servants and the one white cop in the whole department helped us get out of the place.
