Are you referring to the 7-minute damage control video from the Yeagerdrone?

Can't actually find HD pictures of the guy's internals, but I'm actually shocked at how fucked up AKOU's RAS-47 already is, so one guy (who voluntarily chooses to work for James Yeager) saying "Naw it's fine trust me" especially when I can see some deformation on the bolt that he's saying isn't deformed isn't exactly debunking Century's thorough BTFOing by AKOU.

So based on >>29448461 and >>29448519 a DDI is a decent first AK? I could actually afford an Arsenal but then I wouldn't be able to afford any ammo. Also, How do you all feel about bumpstocks or slide-actions and are there any that fold?
>>
>>29449613
you can bumpfire a normal stock ak with your finger if you practice
>its a meme
>>
>>29449480
Pretty fucking solid manufacturing actually.

Just like every other AK, inspect the fucker before you buy it but Zastavas are good guns.

However WASRs are a better intro to the AK platform overall, as Zastava guns use proprietary furniture and have a bunch of nonstandard features.

>>29449613
Word so far is that DDI are damn good guns.

>How do you all feel about bumpstocks or slide-actions and are there any that fold?
You posted in the last thread asking about the RAS47 with the bumpfire stock, right?

They're bullshit that's fun for maybe a trip to the range. Makes the gun more-or-less useless for any practical purpose, introduces a lot of unnecessary wear and tear. Maybe it sounds cool for a minute but you won't hit anything and it's honestly not as fun as it sounds to empty a mag in 3 seconds when you're paying $.25/rnd.

If you want a folding stock, save up for the Arsenal. There are solutions if you want to install a side-folder on a fixed-stock AK but they're all less solid, don't look as good, and are expensive enough that once you factor in cost of the rifle plus the parts a factory folder's usually the better investment.

>tfw want to put Manticore triangle/Stormwerkz hinge combo on my Yugo but can't justify spending ~$250 to do that to a gun I paid $500 for.

Full-auto is for suppression.

AKs on full-auto fire at 600 rnds/minute

Which means a standard mag is empty in 3 seconds.

How would you compare DDI to WASR? You said the WASR was a great intro because it lacks non-standard features ( or rather, it comes with none of those bothersome extras an entry-level AK shouldn't have ) and if the DDI are the same way I might go with them simply because I like the coloring of the wood furniture better.
>>
>>29449788
Can I also ask how AKG feel about the "High Standard" brand of A.K. ? I found them on the Atlantic Arms website but I noticed nobody has said a thing about them in this thread or the last.
>>
>>29449788
If all you're worried about is the color of the wood, surplus laminate furniture sets aren't that expensive, bro.

Sandpaper and the wood finishing products of your choice are even cheaper.

The furniture isn't all I'm worried about; it is prob the least of my concerns but if the DDI is better built while still remaining a "basic" ( and better looking ) A.K. it would just interest me that much more.

Took the AKT for a spin for the first time today. It's nice. Takes some getting used to though, since its so light, accidentally simulated burst fire a couple times because the reset is so short and the pull is so light.

Massive improvement from Arsenal factory trigger.
>>
I have put about 1000 rounds through my rifle and noticed that the dovetail on the bolt carrie is rather heavily peened. The carrier sticks in the recoil spring every few rounds. The fire control group is Tapco G2 which I understand has problems with the hammer. Should I file away the peening and carry on? The rifle functions fine, at least up to this point.
>>
>>29451012

How's the pull weight with the extra spring? Do you have a G2 to compare it to?

Thinking about getting one but I'd like it to be heavy enough to avoid ND's and accidental double taps (happens with the G2 sometimes when I try to creep up on the reset)

5.45 or 7.62?
Looking for my first AK and found some cheap Zastava AKMs, but the performance of 5.45 is appealing.
AKM is going to cost around 620 or so w/ shipping, FFL and tax, while a 74 would likely cost about 50 or so more.
Probably not going to do more then target shooting, but the bigger round for 7.62 is only somewhat less appealing then the better ballistics of 5.45
Ammo prices look similar, I could find both for around 23c/rd.

My AK is in 7.62 and there's a lack of appropriate slabsided mags that are inexpensive enough to paint up and reliable enough to be worth the effort of painting, even for a range toy.

That gives me a woody, actually. I might use matte green paint on the mag, for camouflage discipline purposes--glossy lacquer defeats the purpose.

Of course, around my AO, that kind of dark forest green is going to stand out like a sausage in a soup kitchen anyway. The northern half of the state has thick pine forests, but where I live it's mainly hardwood, and it snows half the year--so most of the year the softwood forests, or the little wood-lots that are all that remain of them, are tangled deadfalls, with a century's worth of rotting dead leaves on the ground gone all faded rusty brown, with black and grey bark, with khaki colored dead brush knee high to waist high everywhere.. It could almost be an advertisement for all those black-grey-brown civvy durr huntan camo patterns that seem specific to Eastern North American hardwood forests between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but which are what most of "the woods" look like most of the year up here, other than greening up very briefly during our short cool summer season.

Honestly I think I'm gonna swap it for an un-notched safety as soon as I get ambitious enough. It doesn't look good and it doesn't work well.

Need some help, familio. As far as i can tell, my ejector is not allowing my bolt to close correctly. It results in the carrier closing all but about an inch or so. Whenever I clear the jam, the round is not secure on the bolt face and does not eject. I would say that this happens one out of every five or so rounds. Any ideas for a remedy?

Hope this made sense

>>
>>29453375

New rifle, or new problem on an old rifle?

Does the bolt close normally when not chambering a round? Is the bolt getting hung up on the ejector? Pull the bolt back and let it forward slowly and watch the ejector/feel for resistance when it meets the ejector.

Are you running the rifle dry or with lube?

Take a picture with a mag inserted (preferably with ammo) and the dust cover off. mag should sit evenly under the ejector.

Boy do I have some questions for you:

Manticore stock obviously. Stormwerkz hinge?

What mounting block did you use?

How much was the total cost of the whole setup? Is my $250 estimate about right?

Overall how would you rate the sturdiness of the system compared to the original buttstock? Did the LoP change a lot compared to the OG Yugo? I hate to phrase it this way but would you trust it in an SHTF-ish situation?

Also I never see pictures of the other side of these folders, where the actual hinge is located, or from the top down. How's it look from those angles?

Overall are you happy with it? Do you feel good about the 50% hike in your investment into this one rifle? Thar last one's my chief concern honestly...

Considering it's semi-functional at best, means the receiver inherently can't seal up as designed, and honestly yeah, I'm not huge on how it looks.

Unless you NEED a way to keep the bolt open it serves literally no purpose.
>>
>>29453556
It's not really feasible for WASRs.
The tang would mean it'd need a huge adapter, then the hinge and stock past that.
It would be abominably long and goofy as the hinge would pivot about 3 inches behind the receiver.

Yes it's. Manticore Arms stock and stormwerkz hinge. I bought it as a package deal for 160 not counting tax and shipping.

http://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/MANTICORE-TRIANGLE-STOCK-WITH-HINGE-ASSEMBLY-4p3603.htm

I went with the Krebs custom block. Luckily for me my opap was already set up for an adapter so I didn't have to dremel out any spots in the block to fit.

You're definitely close to $250 maybe more if you spend more on shipping like I did.

The bolt that holds the adapter block in place did come loose but that's from me not tightening it down all the way because I didn't have the proper tools (cheap set of Allen wrenches) I remedied that with some loctite and a bit set that came with a tiny ratchet wrench that let me snug it up much easier without getting impeded by the receiver walls.

If you loctite every bolt (3) I'd trust it to stay put no matter what. The stock takes some getting used to when shouldering, but it feels sturdy and there's zero play or wiggle in any of the moving parts. You unlock the hinge by pressing up on the bottom left corner and pulling it to the side.

Honestly I love my rifle, but part me of wishes I would have just gotten an Arsenal SLR107FR for that sexy plum but I don't regret it.

Here's a side view.

>Stormwerkz hinge?
Yeah, the ACE doesn't have dual locking lugs, so it won't lock folded.

>What mounting block did you use?
Krebs Custom, because the ACE block mounts funky, and the mounting holes aren't centered on it, unlike the Krebs

>How much was the total cost of the whole setup? Is my $250 estimate about right?
Sounds about right after shipping.
$160 for the stock/hinge combo, $65 for the krebs block.

>Overall how would you rate the sturdiness of the system compared to the original buttstock?
It's rock solid. It's a milled chunk of aluminum and the hinge locks solidly.

>Did the LoP change a lot compared to the OG Yugo?
If I recall correctly, with the hinge and mounting block, it's the same LOP as the standard fixed stock.

>I hate to phrase it this way but would you trust it in an SHTF-ish situation?
Oh yeah. It'll easily crack skulls with a buttstroke, and it probably won't even hurt the finish.

>Overall are you happy with it?
Definately. I knew I was going to get it before I even bought my rifle.

>Do you feel good about the 50% hike in your investment into this one rifle?
As for "investment", I don't look at it that way. It was just the components I wanted and they cost a certain amount.
It's only money, I'll make more.

I also have one of the older OPAPs that has the night sight cutouts that I found the components for and replaced (they were not on the rifle when it was imported because tritium is a regulated material)
Got new tritium as well.

Here's a rather old pic of it.

Old photo of my Sako 92S - I have since replaced original muzzle brake with locally manufactured AK-74 type muzzle brake designed for 7.62-mm rifles. I bought this one new in mid 1990's, when they cost fraction of the price. Sight is Russian Kobra red-dot attached with standard AK-rail, which has new set of holes that fits to original optics rail attachment holes that 92S on its receiver straight from the factory. The red-dot (and IOR 4X rifle scope that is alternative sight for this setup) are used with receiver cover that has no rear sight to keep them low enough for good ergonomics. This rifle has permanent modifications.

It's not something you can just "twist to fix". They need to be unpinned, set properly, drilled for the new position, and repinned.
Check the rifle before you accept it at your FFL.
You can refuse it and send it back, but once it's transferred to you, it can only be sent to the manufacturer.
Hopefully that won't be an issue and you'll get a fine one.

>>29455609
>Are spam cans pretty much non existent due to Russian import ban?

No, it because of the armor piercing ammo ban that affected 7n6 in '14.
I'm not sure if there's commercial ammo in spam cans, so that might be a thing.
But 7n6 has been drying up, and going up in price since it was banned and most places are OOS.

Maybe half hours worth if you're using a hand file to size the roll pin.
10 minutes for me with a dremel, going slow and test fitting often.
Make sure to check that the trigger resets, (I can almost bet it won't) and knock the edge off the rear shelf of the disconnect so it'll clear the trigger when the safety's off.
Once you start tinkering with it, you'll see what I'm talking about.
It was cleaner looking to mod the disconnect than the safety, so that's what I went with.
>Then hit everything I modded with a one of these paint pens to help make it resistant to the elements and dirt.

Yes.
You have to fill out and sign a 4473 at your LGS.

But you got it from Atlantic, so even if you accept it and find out later it's screwy, they'll likely take care of you if you talk to them.

They aren't supposed to exist outside of that.

I guess I'm the first guy on that list, except I just call them all AK's or 'the AK platform'

Just a modernized AK right? Thought it was it's own rifle.

Also I need to start doing some serious reading to learn more about the AK platform

My wasr's bolt carrier is getting a scratch right above the handle

You know that little dimple on the dust cover on the right side? If you put the safety on its right where the safety lever flat part meets up with the dust cover. That dimple is hitting the bolt carrier when the handle moves passed it. So it's getting scratched up since it pushes the cover dimple thing out of the way.

Is there a fix? Or should I not care?

You appear to have the genuine article there, a real '74 brake made with real Slav gun magic. It most likely works significantly better than the Tapco copies that only resemble it superficially and don't have the original's multiple chambers and baffles and so on.
>>
>>29462376

There shouldn't be a dimple on your dust cover. Are you talking about where the dust cover folds in right at the ejection port? The brass deflecting area? If that's contacting your bolt carrier then just file it out until it doesn't rub anymore. Must dust cover rubbed on one of my bolt carriers, unfortunately I didn't notice it was happening til I had dicked up the finish pretty bad. But I just filed it out and the problem was solved.
