You can use motoroil, anything that provides protection and lubrication and doesn't contain something which would cause corrosion.

You couldn't use bacon grease, as it would cake, cause corrosion from salt, attract bugs, turn rancid, etc, but you could use something such as canola oil (which could go rancid too, but until it does it'll work).
