The gun was supposed to be a cheaper, more reliable M16, and therefore was made almost entirely out of stampings and used a short piston system (which Eugene actually hated as it added weight, parts, complications and reduced accuracy)

But M16s were already so common and (post A1) reliable that it was pointless to try to correct all the flaws of this new gun when you already had one perfectly functional one.

The AR-18 could be compared to the Gerat 06H- technically cheaper to manufacture and not without its appeal, but hindered by bad timing and the costs of manufacturing the manufacturing plant itself.

assuming the barrel isnt shot out and the BHO is still in tact, thats a great price.

AR-180 was good, but not commercially viable without STANAG compatibility.

AR-180B never stood a chance when introduced as the market for black rifles didn't really exist before the 1994 AWB.

If an AR-180 was reintroduced in 2017 it could be bretty gud, but still about $1000.

1200 is a pretty good i paid 1400 for mine because it has the rare foam sleeve for the fore end and for the stock.
came with two stanags that were not even dremmeled to fit.
i had a hard time finding an actual mag until today i got a 20 rounder cheaper than i should have so I'm going to try it out tomorrow
otherwise its a good gun that really stays clean because of the gas system
