I knew a guy who was like 40 pounds overweight and ran 3 miles in like 18:30. He was a big guy with a ton of muscle but he was also fat. Fat isn't really as big a deal as people think, it just makes people think you're lazy or out of shape but you could be the opposite.

In pretty much everything that involves fitness standards you can hit a point where your experience makes you too valuable to drum out over something like that. If you can do 'good enough' they will be okay with you continuing to do your job as is.
