I'm pretty sure that was the Firearm Owners Protection Act not the "brady bill" considering Reagan hadn't been president for years when the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act rolled around.

What really pisses me off is the FOPA was introduced by a guy from my state and some dirty faggot from New Jersey completely and utterly ruined it with his ban bullshit. And then of course Reagan signed it with that fucking dick smoker's amendment still onboard.
>>
>>29173341
>>29173349
Brady Bill was 1993.
>>
>>29173502
FOPA was necessary a worth it in the end.
>>
>>29173450
another faggot millennial who thinks Reagan sucked.
why am I not surprised.
hurr, durr Ican't make a machine gun. no but you can have ammo sent to your house.
>>
>>29173327
Have you never heard of the mulford act. Reagan was anti-gun all the way back to his Governor days.
>>
>>29173502
Well, HR 4332 (Hughes Amendment) could've been replaced by another amendment that would've banned the transfer and possession of Suppressors.

Pick your poison, machine guns banned or suppressors banned? In the end, the worst thing that happened to suppressors was a mandatory minimum of 30 years for using one in the commission of a crime.

IMO, I'd rather have MGs banned than suppressors.
>>
>>29173547
lol, another seeling point of the FOPA was peaceable journey clause, which the commie states still shit all over despite it being federal law.

I'd rather the FOPA never happened because we still lost in the end.
>>
>>29173341
>Brady Bill
Please be pretending. 1993 was Clinton you fucking moron.

You mean the 1986 Firearm Owner's Protection Act. If you know anything about the history of that act, the machine gun amendment was literally tacked on last minute by Dem senator Hughes of NJ.

The rest of the act did a lot of good for gun owners. Stop acting like Reagan was the key to all of this, snickering as he wiped away machineguns in some backroom deal.
>>
>>29173502
So you're from Idaho?
>>
>>29173502
A law that reeled in the worst of the ATF's bullshit at the cost of any new machine guns in civilian hands was a small price to pay for many.

Prior to that an ATF agent could tell you something was legal and then jail you for doing that exact thing because it actually wasn't(yes, this happened fairly often) and you couldn't transport weapons through states that didn't allow them.
>>
>>29173560
Rather just have cocksuckers like Hughes hit in the face repeatedly with mad as fuck badgers with rabies.

>>29173578
Yep. Congratulations, you have an imaginary friend all to yourself in this thread because we don't actually exist.

>"I'm a member of the NRA. And my position on the right to bear arms is well known. But I support the Brady bill and I urge the Congress to enact it without delay. It's just plain common sense that there be a waiting period [7 days] to allow local law enforcement officials to conduct background checks on those who wish to buy a handgun."

>another faggot millennial who thinks Reagan sucked.

Reagan sucked for our country. Absorbed some late-term benefits of Carter's economic reforms, and an intentionally delayed release of the Iran hostages. Then he fucked up fiscal policy and foreign policy and allowed a bunch of insufferable moral relativists to start fucking our domestic policy because of the devil's music.

Reagan was a fuckstick, we haven't had a good president in ages.
>>
>>29173628
He dismantled the mental health system as well.
>>
>>29173606
If the Brady Bill was supposed to be a waiting period, where the fuck did computerized background checks come from?
>>
>>29173575
>the machine gun amendment was literally tacked on last minute by Dem senator Hughes of NJ.

And then that crook Charlie Rangel falsified the voice vote (speaking of, why the fuck is that even a thing?) on it to let it slide in, even though the nays were absolutely louder than the yeas on C-SPANs footage.
>>
>>29173628
>being this delusional
The "moral relativist" policy that made america the unstoppable military juggernaut started back when Kissinger penned his idea of limited war in the 50's. Only faggots who don't like the current status que are morons who got easily memed on by faggot socialists who's onlywish was that america be just another weak nation so it could be more easily manipulated to their ends.
>>
>>29173668
>voice votes are a thing

How is that a good idea?
>>
>>29173649
He was too fucking stupid to take a stand on real reform, so Reagan and co. just threw the baby out with the admittedly rife-with-abuse bath water.

American mental health institutions were a Kafkaesque nightmare, but it's like they just gave up and decided the streets and prison would be an improvement, since that's exactly where the new loony vagrants wound up.
>>
>>29173677
Bro, I was talking about the war on metal and violent media Nancy Reagan wanted. Lay off Kissinger's dick, Hillary Clinton wants her turn back.
>>
>>29173665
The waiting period was still a thing, what happened was that the NRA put in the computerized background checks, the waiting period for gun purchases was part of the bill until the technology existed for the background check part.

The idea was that since computers still weren't a thing in 1993, they could shoot down the Brady Bill in court by saying that background checks couldn't be done because the technology didn't exist yet.

Unfortunately for the NRA, technology advanced fast and by 1998 it could be done.

>Obama has failed to push any anti-gun legislation on a federal level and states are overwhelmingly loosening their gun laws
>Reagan successfully banned full auto rifles

No, Reagan is not a hero when it comes to guns. People like you who push that he was in any sense need to fuck off. If you want to hail him for anything else, be my guest, but Ronnie was not a friend to gun owners or the 2nd Amendment. Was he the worst thing ever for it? Nope. But he's no patriot.
>>
>>29173649

The asylums were sued into oblivion by the ACLU during the Carter admin, who then procceeded to propose we federalize the entire thing and spend billions of tax dolars on it. Then Carter gets the boot and Reagan comes in and says "No, it should be the right of the States to decide how and if they want to fund asylums." And the States stuck their thumbs up their asses and didn't come up with any kind of plan.

>>29173628
>Carter
>Economic reforms

Holy fucking shit only intentional shitposting can be this fucking delusional. Carter was the worst thing to happen to the economy since Lyndon Johnson's commie "Great Society" bullshit.

>Society full of fuddy, complacent Americans who think everything is strum-diddly

>President says "Well golly will you look at that, the People all want gun control, and it's my job as the President to carry out the Will of the People, even if the People are all being fucking morons."

It wasn't until the early 90's when the ATF started committing massacres and the militia movement gained momentum as a response to Clinton's spying that all those 80's Fudds and their kids started going "Hmmm, maybe those big scury salt rifles we banned would have come in handy fightin' all this tyranny!"

.30 caliber round. Terminal velocity of a .357

Essentially comparable to .30 carbine. The caliber works.

Just like .357

Just like .30 carbine

It was a soviet caliber. He said it himself. "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall."

I have no further comment.
>>
>>29181120
did he ever say .357 and .30 carbine was appropriate for home defense?
