OP, sadly /k/ will tell you shit-all about soft armor and has no idea what companies make good product. They'd much rather waste their money on AR500 plates.

Don't have experience with exact same vest, but Spartan is one of the big names in armor manufacturing, and it is to my understanding that they are pretty much all the same nowadays.

You can adjust the fit with those velcros, from the side and from the top.
Pick the size of your T-Shirt (S/M/L...) and you should do fine.

Thats what ar500 is, its a steel plate.

Ceramic isn't as heavy, and is probably cheaper to make.

Ceramic is lighter and stops direct hits better. AR500 is literally just a thin steel plate and that's why nobody who gets shot at uses it.

Weight. Just pure and simple. Try to find a piece of steel plating a height width and dept that fits your carriers and try walking around. Feels heavy right? Now imagine that depending on what kind steel it is you'll twice or even four times that to stop a rifle bullet..

At my work we have AE IIIA with a slick carrier. Works fine and is decently comfortable. Takes a beating because lulz CO. Decently light and great if your not bending and the carrier just rides and you have to reposition it.

We're switching to the AR500 lightweight in a fRe months ( at least that's the talk anyways ) , so about a 8lb vest to a 14 lb vest.
