Not with hollow points. Then, you've got very similar power with more recoil and less capacity.

Cost less than a comparable used Glock in 9mm did at the time.
Came with drop-in conversion barrel.
Shoots fine with either barrel using either magazine. (seller was hiding a light strike issue caused by a worn firing pin assembly he fucked with and broke but cost 20$ to replace).

So now I have a 400$ Glock that shoots both 9 and .40, so I can shoot .40 if I feel like it or if it's all I can find which has happened during the last panic. I used to trade what was left of my 9mm stockpile 3:1 for .40 and plink with that all day.

.40 s&w is perfectly acceptable. It's probably better than 10mm in the sense that many 10mm loads are identical to .40 almost, only chambered in larger, heavier framed guns.

Because I got a P226R in 40 with night sights, 4 mags, and a holster, all new in box, for 300 bucks. Bought two barrels and some mags, now I can shoot 9mm, 40, and 357 Sig, and it only takes about thirty seconds to switch.

Because .40cal, for whatever reason, is the caliber that I shoot most accurately with the greatest consistency. Yes, I get more consistent groups at distance with .40cal than I do with 9mm and I shoot it more accurately than I shoot .45acp.
I also don't care for how it feels to shoot 9mm and like the idea of a heavier slug for the very minor benefits it gives regarding barriers.

9mm is only better than .40 if you can't handle recoil or can't afford ammo. In which case, carry 9mm. I don't like .45 because it makes the guns thicker/heavier.
