So /k/, I'm apparently a dumbass somehow. Was taking apart and cleaning a friend's P238 after our first trip to the range, and when I put it back together, this happened, and I have no idea why.

This happened once before when I was giving it an initial inspection, but it fixed itself when I took it apart and put it back together again. What did I do wrong so that this happened (again)? The manual doesn't really cover this and I can't seem to see what's causing this.

It's just a phase, the tribal tatoo thing will eventually disappear after the gun finishes his puberty.

Guide rod installed incorrectly or you forgot the recoil spring.
>>
I have a P938 which is the same internals and the only thing I can guess is you fucked up the recoil spring and guide rod installation. Possibly the ejector is sticking as well.

I was pretty sure it was the guide rod as well, but fiddling with it did nothing, it's sitting properly. Spring's in.
>>
>>28336832
Why does sig even do this?
>>
>>28336862

take it apart and put it back together a few times. maybe you'll get luck and unfuck it. other than that.. gunsmith or back to sig.

Do what you did to fix it last time, dummy.

His spring is symmetrical.

>>28336891
That's the thing, I did, but can't figure out what exactly it was.
>>
>>28336815
just do what you did to take it apart but in reverse :-)
>>
>>28336815
yeah this happens, I have a P238

just disassemble and reassemble

except take your time the 2nd time around
>>
>>28336923

well the P238 is so simple in operation there are a very limited number of things you could have done to fuck it up. 1 possibly being you did not put the take down in properly through the barrel linkage. Pull back VERY SLIGHTLY on the slide when inserting it
>>
>>28336815
is your recoil spring round or flat?

if it's round, you have a shit spring

Call Sig have have them send you the new updated flat recoil spring. i have pics if you need, of mine
>>
>>28336815
I do this all the time with my 238. when putting the slide catch back in the hole, make sure the rod goes through the moving slot connected to the barrel
>>
>>28336897
this is the old, round, shit recoil spring

call sig and have them send you the updated flat recoil spring if you want any kind of reliability in a carry gun where you absolutely need 100% reliability if you wanna live
>>
>>28337004

this. by the looks of it you pulled the slide all the way to the rear when inserting the pivot pin/slide catch so it's binding up. look up some take down and installation videos on youtube to see how to do it properly.

anybody else replace their trigger like I did?
>>
>>28337218

I might. I have no issue with the stock one other than it feels cheap.
>>
As an owner of a 938, you put the pin in with the slide back to far. Take your pin out and re install in tell correct. Don't say I'm wrong untell you do it 4 or 5 times. It will fix issue

Yep, this was the issue all along; was away for a while, sorry for delayed response. Thanks for the help.
