I see BAE is doing what it does in the UK and spending a millions on advertising in print and making flashy Youtube videos to make it seem like the other competing design (Terrex II) is a non-entity and their bid is the only name in town.

They did this for the Warrior CSP and Fres Scout tenders, and lost on both. Should have spent the money on actually building to spec rather than wasting it on advertising and paying-off journalists to write about it.

The selection is down to the SuperAV and Terrex 2.

I expect the SuperAV to win based on ability of the vehicle and ability of the manufacturer.

>>
>>28020551
>Country of Origin = Great Britain

Nope. It's Italian in origin and it's BAE Systems Inc. (i.e. the American subsidiary) who are responsible for ACV
>>
>>28020614

>BAE Systems plc is a British multinational defence, security and aerospace company headquartered in London in the United Kingdom and with operations worldwide. It is among the world's largest defence contractors; it ranked as the second-largest based on applicable 2012 revenues.[5] Its largest operations are in the United Kingdom and United States, where its BAE Systems Inc. subsidiary is one of the six largest suppliers to the US Department of Defense. Other major markets include Australia, India and Saudi Arabia. The company was formed on 30 November 1999 by the £7.7 billion merger of two British companies; Marconi Electronic Systems (MES) – the defence electronics and naval shipbuilding subsidiary of the General Electric Company plc (GEC) – and British Aerospace (BAe) – an aircraft, munitions and naval systems manufacturer.

Not sure. But yea, I guess we should compare known APCs.

The problem is that it's hard to pick by weight class. I am guessing it HAS to fit in the country's common delivery plane or it's dropped.
>>
>>28019305
Apparently they fucked patria over and the finns withdrew from competition. So it was their own stupidity.
>>
Wouldn't tracked be better?
No roads on beaches, as far as I am aware....
Tracked also gives more room in the vehicle, and will be lower down.
>>
>>28020727
Modern wheeled vehicles are much more capable of offroad than they used to, tracks do not provide IED protection from a V-hull and ground clearance.

In the 30 ton or less weight class it is hard to justify tracks over wheels nowadays.
>>
>>28020755
Tracks can be built just as high/v-hulled as any wheeled vehicle.

IED's were only such an issue because iraq/afghanistan was a decade long insurgency with popular support for the insurgents.
Rebuilding a road with an IED under it isn't something thats going to happen in a war.

Especially for an amphibious vehicle, tracks would be far better. Wheels are going to tear up a beach until its impassable.
>>

>>
>>28020725
What happened was that LockMart partnered with Patria, they had the fronr running favorite vehicle and were set to win the competition, then Lockmart got greedy, learned what they could about the AMV, then used that info to design their 100% 'murican AFV and dropped Patria like a sack of potatoes. They deserve to burn in hell for all I care.
>>
>>28019348
Nearly no apc will be protected against 30mm.

I think the boxer is at the front but it will also swim like a stone.
>>
>>28020688
Regardless, it's Italian in origin, and having worked with BAE in the UK I know that their international subsidiaries operate more-or-less as independent businesses.
>>
>>28021368
Lockheed and Patria's vehicle was tailored to the MPC program and not the ACV program, which is why their design(s) lost out in the ACV 1.1 selection.

Fucking no? BAE Systems NA is a subsidiary wholly owned by BAE Systems UK. All of their project data and revenue funnels back through the main company.
>>
>>28021376
30mm protection isnt worth much mind you- next gen IFV armaments are being upped to 40/45/57 mm autocannon.
>>28025450
>Namer. Also it is protected against 125mm.
mangos yeah- newer rounds, doubt it. it uses the Merkava 4/3(memory fails) hull which has a much thinner armor array than the frontal turret of Western tanks.
>>
>>28026009
>40/45/57 mm autocannon

Outside of that 40mm CTA gun everyone is staying at 30mm.

That 57mm turret for the BMP-3 is targeted at wealthy Arab countries.

firstly, there are eight wheels, loss of one two or even three (depending which wheels) wont result in a mobility kill
secondly the wheels themselves are made of thick as fuck bulletproof rubber, anything that can knock one out in the first place isn't going to be stopped by a couple centimeters of steel
thridly, any meaningful armor would weigh too much and counteract the mobility benefits of a wheeled platform
fourthly it costs money
fifthly wheeled afvs aren't really meant to be going right into battlefield hot zones and taking fire from .50s and rpgs, they're meant to get troop to the battlefield and provide supporting fire from a distance

Literally shit.

Slat armor, spaced armor, and ERA all render them largely ineffective.

They get a bad rap because when one goes pop it takes 24-25 marines with it. going forward it should probably be given to independent amphibious transport units and used in an initial beach assault and push inland, being relieved after a beachhead is cleared and a gap is exploited in the enemy's inland defenses, replaced with MRAP's for further operations
